I love the English wit. Genius!

It's quite clear that Squids feels Amplitube 2 slays Guitar Rig, though he's diplomatic enough that he'd put it more like, "Guitar Rig is excellent, and I still think it's a valuable and worthwhile application. But you really need to hear Amplitube 2 for yourself, it's in a whole new category." <grin>

I'm not so sure I want to buy a PodXT now. Coz' I tend to trust your opinion because of that sexy signature pic

And it works out cheaper for me to get Amplitube 2 (if it remains at the $399 price)

Who, me?

My opinion means nothing. I don't have a PodXT and I haven't tried Amplitube 2. ;) I'd love to have a PodXT, but I'm thinking that for the price and due to the fact that I don't need hardware for 'live' use, Amplitube 2 would be better and more flexible VFM.

With the Pod, you'd still have to re-amp if you want to change sounds.

I dunno. As I said, my opinion means nothing. I can afford neither, and so I will continue using my brilliant Green Machine Amp II for now, and add Amplitube LE to the mix with the T2 update.

Maybe if I get a more permanent contract and a predictable income I'll spring on Amplitube 2. :D

Honestly, even without the biases I can tell you (you can see I am even above normal confident and excited about my feelings on this... since I've posted on KVR so many thousands of times) that it is definitely without a doubt better than Guitar Rig. Guitar Rig isn't bad. Anyone who says it is, well, is just being very opinionated but NI doesn't make anything that is bad. But, maybe just not always what the musician wants. Take that little pedal for instance. I just talked to a guitarist friend of mine who plays for them and he said he just couldn't deal with that little pedal. It is so UNguitarist (it even says software synthesis on it????). NI is the company that makes us Reaktor and Kontakt and Battery etc. That stuff I love, even if it is a bit more techy and I tend to use it less- or only when I want to go deeper with tweaking... in fact I LOVE the idea of Reaktor but I don't even have time to use it honestly speaking. But I have a great deal of respect for them in doing this. However, Guitar Rig is more commercial for them and it seemed like a copy of Reason meets AmpliTube. So, finally seeing AmpliTube 2 in action (I sent in some of my stomp boxes to model- I collect vintage stomp boxes for production so naturally I am extra thrilled to have this) I have to say that it is no contest. But, I know things about it that would back this up.

For one thing, guess how many amp combinations THIS one has. AT1 had 1,260. Would double that make you happy? How about triple? Still not happy with the options? How about TWENTY THOUSAND amp combinations? AmpliTube has MORE than twenty thousand amp combinations. That's incredible. PLus the modeling is the most accurate I have ever heard but I had a personal explanation from the developers how they did a new enhanced method that they were extremely pleased with the results. They explained it to me but I am not knowledgeable enough to explain it back exactly but something about certain physical measurements and audio testing methods that were a step up from AmpliTube 1.

The crunch I heard today. Oh man. Ooooooh man. Guys, seriously, I would buy this without a doubt. Even if you have Guitar Rig. This is NOT TO MISS. The Fuzzface alone is worth it. I am not kidding. Or the Dynacomp. It sounds so much like the real pedal!!! Finally I have it in software. You know my Fuzzface picks up radio stations? It's annoying. It's a sensitive box but it's the Hendrix box. This sounds almost exactly like the real Fuzzface sans radio station. The MXR modeled phasers are outstanding. The Vox modeled wah... I mean, this is worth it for the pedals that are completely configurable. You can have 2 chains of the whole amp and effects. Run them in series or parellel... this is it. This is the one.

I haven't got Guitar Rig, but I have used it, and I was impressed.

I've used Amplitube 1 too, and I prefer Guitar Rig over that. But AT2 could change that, the speil certainly reads promising.

The PodXT at my local shop is £245, AT2 is £215 - so at the moment, AT2 is the winner.

You people are all just f**king whacko..

Just like I said, if it's more than a two oscillator subtractive, everyone gets smacked with an idiot stick..

So how many oscillators does Amplitube 2 have, Squids?

Whats wrong with liking something Sick?? Admittedly I haven't tried it, but taking Squids words even with a grain of salt, it has to be worth checking out.

hmm?

Oh, don't mind me, I'm drunk.

:drunk:

I look forward to seeing what this thing can do. I'm an NI fanboy & despite that the Guitar Rig demo was shit under my heel, TBH..

I'm pretty sure sicklecell was just being funny. I certainly chuckled. ;)

So... how many oscillators DOES it have???

I've never been a fan of the Pod. I am a fan of Markus Ryle the owner of that company and I have friends there. But, my guitar player uses that darn Pod and I can't stand it. That and the Vetta and the Variaxe. They all are incredibly convenient and for some gigs it does give more variety which is nice. But, ideally, I'd rather have acoustic guitars and real amps. AT2 on the other hand doesn't give you that feeling of "compromised" sound. You don't listen to it and go "oh, yeah that's pretty good". You listen to it when the settings are dialed in and go "woooooah!" just like you would if you REALLY cranked an AC30 or a Marshall or Mesa Boogie or Fender etc.

I met Yngwie today. He was really impressed. He got all excited about it and asked if it had this and that stomp box in it. He said to me "You see this picture? " and he showed me a stack of Marshalls in some magazine and then he said "That's really what I am all about, you know. Real amps". and I said "Yeah, sure, of course.". But then he said "But this (AmpliTube 2) looks really interesting. I think I would take this around on my laptop everywhere I go". And then he started asking me if it had this pedal and that pedal and a plexiglass etc. I took down his requests!
