He has indeed bulked up over the years. In grade school, we called him Hen-Bone because he was so skinny. But a high-energy kind of guy, always thinking of the next outrageous thing, and certainly very smart. At a birthday party for one of our classmates in 5th grade, he broke his wrist playing softball. He was catching wearing a first baseman's glove. I didn't quite see the play because I was playing left field.Markleford wrote:He's "built", though. Not a fan of the music either, but I think his monologues are fantastic.I don't really dig his music either, but he seems like an alright guy.

In hindsight, it was a rather remarkable 5th grade class. There was Henry, Craig Rosen who was in the Enzymes and later the Static Disruptors and is now a screenwriter in Hollywood, Charles Lane who is a somewhat prominent political journalist and was at one point editor of the New Republic, and myself, noted beer-drinking television viewer and janitor here at Electric Naschyland Studio and Dangerous Bear Underground.
At the time he left DC's S.O.A. for the west coast, we were all rather proud of him joining Black Flag, but he hasn't seemed to have much use for the home folks since moving onto the big stage. I did like his BF records though, and the version of Rollins Band with my friend Chris Haskett who I was in the Enzymes with was good for what it was. He broke that band up Chris told me because they became too proficient on their instruments and were playing too much "jazz".
I haven't talked to him in a few years, we were never really close, other bandmates and fellow DC musicians of mine know him better. But he is much less of an ongoing Washingtonian than the guy who replaced Kent in Scream who later played in some band from Seattle. I suppose that's the life of a citizen of the world.

Yeah he came out 'officially' last year, don't actually know about the drag thing though, it was just mentioned in something I read somewhere about that song...Lunch Money wrote:I didn't know he was a crossdresser! That's news to me. Is he also gay? That'd be news to me, too! Cool beans.

Actually, I remember way back when (89ish) Grant Hart was interviewed for some UK rag and was asked who the last person he'd invite to a party was, he said Rollins cos he called Husker Du a 'faggot' band.

I wasn't a big fan of his music either but I went to one of his monologue performance (scored tickets from a local college radio)Markleford wrote:He's "built", though. People tend to expect that from big guys.mr.me wrote:f**k...that's a shocker, he looks huge on tv!

and since then I've not been a fan of his monologues either
I pity the fools that actually bought tickets to watch him talk about jerking off into the bathroom sink.

Sorry to be a bit OT, but when Bob Mould came out, the lyrics to stuff like Punch Drunk became very painful, mainly cause of the sheer ferocity of the musicGaryG wrote: Husker Du a 'faggot' band.

One liked the record, played it on the gramophone on a number of occasions.
