Don't forget about TC Native Bundle 3's Compressor/De-esser + Side Chainer. Easy as hell to use. Unfortunately, they don't make it anymore, which sucks! It is hands down the best software compressor I've ever used.

I don't know, but check yourself:
Create a new group channel (like in video). If you click on "More" you should see "Quad". If not than NO. Sorry, I began my SX series with SX2.

Ouch. One must click the "e" at the top of the inspectr on the left to bring up a window with both inserts (left) and sends (right). Atop the right hand side is the window I couldn't find.
Thanks for this excellent tutorial!

What about Twisted lemon sidekickV3?
Stereo sidechaining with four independant channels on Stereo tracks. Works fine in Cubase Sx 1.06.

this thread is a heavily out dated and clumsy way to do it.
here's the real deal:
1. create quadro group.
2. create two child busses to the quadro group in VSTconnections (two clicks)
3. put your favourite true sidechaining (4-input) plugin in the group
3b. route to your hearts content.
It's damn easy and flexible. Forget about the surround pan! It's a stupid and needlessly complicated inflexible hack.
And do not *ever* again start a thread about Cubase not having true sidechaining again. It's been there since the dawn of time.

Well, it's not stupid. It's just old. This was the method used before Cubase introduced Child busses (in SX3 I think), which of course is much easier.Kingston wrote:Forget about the surround pan! It's a stupid and needlessly complicated inflexible hack.

But I agree that it's odd how tough a myth it is that Cubase lacks sidechaining, or that it requires a "complicated hack". As you say, it really is quite easy and it certainly is flexible.... which is the whole point of sidechaining.
Cheers,

That plug is not recognized on my setup. No clue why.michat wrote:What about Twisted lemon sidekickV3?

Perhaps out of date, but I have SX2 not SX3, and it worked fine for me. Plus, I found a window that I have never see before and that, in and of itself, made the excercise fruitful for me.Kingston wrote:PostPosted: Thu Jan 25, 2007 2:47 pm

cool. but I'm fairly sure the child busses are there even in SX2. (it's been a while so I'm not 100% sure)numnutz wrote:Perhaps out of date, but I have SX2 not SX3, and it worked fine for me. check in VSTconnections by right clicking the quadro group. It'll make your life a whole lot easier, and you won't need the surroundpan for routing.
