Not that Sytrus is bad- I just like the sound of it better. Daniel Maurier's Rhino banks are a huge plus, as well.
compared to Rhino Sytrus is a toy...

No kidding; sytrus synthesises everything? Even the sin wave? No lookup tables?

I am impressed. I thought only "Discovery" did this (at the horrid expense of CPU).

At any rate, its really filter quality that matters most (to me).

Shees what did I start here :?

Dont get me wrong I like both of them...well the litle that the demos can show me.
Just need the 1,5 demo then I can make up my mind. :D

No lookup tables?
the lookup tables are synthesized.. and *by the synthesizer*

Btw lots of synthesizers compute their bandlimited waveforms on the fly. Problem with that (those) method(s) is that you're usually limited to basic waveforms. If you want really user-definable ones, either you do additive, or you use lookup tables.
For what its worth, I think Rhino eats Sytrus for lunch.

if it's only about the sound and not about the tweakability, then get a rom/rampler, it'll eat both for lunch.
I don't know, I hope you realize that you're basically saying that Rhino would sound like madonna if you were putting a madonna clip into it.

 life is a tough one if you're surrounded by enemies, isn't it... - you should seek help though, I'm sure there's a good psychiatrist in your area somewhere who can help you to cope with life...

oh, and while we're at it:

maybe you should ask Frederic how I spent my time today to help your company in getting the Sytrus-demo working...

I don't see where's your problem with me giving my point in the Sytrus/Rhino comparison, considering it's what the thread is about, and I'm well placed to give info on what Sytrus is for & isn't.
It's not as if I was at war with someone if I claim what Sytrus is for and Rhino seems to be for in a thread that's just about that.

Maybe you expected some 'all synths are great, buy them all, and let's all make love' hippie bullshit.
If you want politically correctness, I don't know, rent a disney DVD.

Gol's just poking fun (and bumping the thread for some free publicity). But to his credit, he has never once said "sytrus is better" or "rhino is better". Honestly, the FM and 6X6 mod matrix is all they have in common; but then, I can think of half a dozen VSTI's which have that.

Post

I love Rhino and i don't own Sytrus yet, but i do have the demo and joined the Buy immediately... Sytrus seems to have the better oscillators and is perfectly for basses and more aggressive sounds; Rhino has this clean sound which is great for pad and a lot more, but i haven heard any really cutting lead, deep bass or aggressive fm guitar sound of it, so i decided buying :D ,.
Both are great synths and compliment each other rather well - i really look forward to get Sytrus.

Cheers, Richard

jens, dont bother.

I tried no end to help these guys out, helping fix bugs etc, fred totally acknowledged this as well
(a very nice guy) still nothing.

best thing is to just get out while the going is good, they know the PR is crap, but it doesn't seem to bother them one bit.

standby for the fanboys. :hihi:

Sytrus is a pretty amazing synth, even though the default library probably doesn't take advantage of it as much as it could. Still, wonderful stuff all around.
