BTW, several companies like Xtreme and Alienware are just re-branded versions of Clevo (Sager) notebooks. Usually at much higher prices and perhaps equiped with alternate components or cases to justify the higher cost. If you are interested in one of these machines I would check out one of the other vendors like PC Torque which tend to have much better prices for equivalent machines.

Is it worth looking at specialised audio laptops, like the ones at Nusystems, Inta-Audio or Digital Village? Any opinions on these? And what makes them specialised?

I like the specs on that Nusystems Ultra, but they all still offer P4 laptops only. I don't like P4s for audio work (or much of anything for that matter). I guess if you're in the UK, Xtreme might not work too well for you.
