I'll take William Shatner in preference to Gene Simmons ANY DAY, and twice on Sundays. Quincy, what you said about his appearing to have a healthy sense of humor -- that's the impression I get too. He doesn't take himself too seriously. To me this is a cardinal virtue.
Gene Simmons? *tailtwitch* Feh! I'd like to know how much of Al Franken's tennis story involving Simmons is true. :-D (Faithful listeners to Terry Gross' interview program "Fresh Air" will know whereof I speak.)
I fear Simmons takes himself entirely too seriously.

Actually, AcidPlanet is currently hosting a William Shatner "mashup" using samples from two songs on his new album:

Yeah, not bad for a guy that let his wife drown in a pool.

Actually a surprisingly good album. Ben Folds put it together for him and did a great job. It's called Has Been and he really takes it with good humer and a grain if salt.

He lives next door to a couple that I know and from what I gather he's not necessarily that congenial in "real life".meeks wrote:Actually a surprisingly good album. The best was Shatners 60's covers - Mr. Tamborine Man in particular. I didn't know how to describe a 'bad trip' till I heard that song!
I want to remix Leonard Nimoy's 'There's A Tear In My Beer', or his timeless cover of 'Picked A Fine Time To Leave Me Lucille' (Highly Illogical Mix) instead.

i mean funny in a different way tho
common people to me sounds like a novelty track, whereas the rest of the album is less novelty.
