Thanks very much for the replys. C3 is my favorite so far... I wish it wasn't so heavy on the cpu though. =( I'd love to try the oxford, although I have no powercore.

By "linear gain" I mean obedience to the gain law (ex it reduces the signal strength by 2:1 accurately). Maybe I've got the wrong word for it. Most digital compressors seem to have trouble with this. The ones that are good at it seem to pack more punch.

With some care, I find that Sonalksis CQ1 Multi-Band Compander and DQ1 Dynamic Equaliser are capable of leaving a very small footprint. They are not standard compressors, but if you know what you are doing they are exceptionally powerful and can doing wonders.

..did anyone tried Anwida CX1V compressor, yet...it sounds damn transparent and natural...except it has some difficulties with low frequencies..
