..i don´t know who played it exactly..maybe all together

but this i written on my LP:

"Pink Floyd: David Gilmour (vocals, guitar, VCS3 synthesizer); Roger Waters (vocals, VCS3 synthesizer, bass, sound effects); Richard Wright (keyboards, VCS3 synthesizer, background vocals); Nick Mason (drums, percussion, sound effects)"

..and genesis used the VCS3, too... :P

Essentially they weren't multi-instrumentalists, in the sense that Gentle Giant were.. The multi VCS3 reference is because of all of them playing on 'On The Run' to get the beefy sound. PF pretty much stuck to their traditional instruments. Genesis had some multi-instrumentalism - Tony Banks wrote the 12-string entry to 'Supper's Ready' even tho' he was the keyboard player; and Peter Gabriel pitched in a few piano parts (which trod rather substantially on Tony's toes, but they got over it..).

No, I'm not. I'm thinking of Lemmy, and his mole, and now you are too.

sure - on the first few Albums they all used synths (live as well) but you know - 'shine on..' that FAMOUS intro is a synth and a guitar-solo - if we can agree that Glimour played the guitar who do you think played the synth then? ;-)

Seems that link is dead once you click on the download from KVR. But I found this alternative. Might be a good idea to grab these as they could disappear forever:

Sid, of course...
An idiot on Set Theory:

Some answers from here:

"MINIMOOG (1973 - 1981) - Basically it's the "trumpet" sound in "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". Known as the world's most popular analog syntheziser. Wright used the MiniMoog for many years mainly as a lead instrument. (FloydWaters note: I can't be sure, but it sounds as if this instrument appears after 1981...it sounds like this is the "trumpet" sound in "Wearing the Inside Out". Also, according to Terrence, this was also used on the DSotM tour.)

A.R.P. (SOLINA IV) SYNTHESIZER (1975 - 1977)-Even though the ARP (Alan R. Pearlman Inc.) was a popular synthesizer, especially in America, the only other A.R.P. synthesizer that Wright used was on the song "Absolutly Curtains" on "Obscured By Clouds". The "Solina V" synthesizer was known as "The Floyd's String Machine" capable of recreating a string orchestra, as you can hear on Wish You Were Here and Animals.

WURLITZER ELECTRIC PIANO (1972 - 1975) - Also known as "The Wurly". Wright used model EP-200 series (Colour White). Some say that this was Wright's guitar because of the staccato notes it produces. The Wurly was used mainly for a counter rhythm against Gilmour's guitar. If you have an ear for music, listen to the right channel on songs like "Time", "Have A Cigar", the jazzy solo in "Shine On Pt. 8". Wright adds a wah-wah pedal for the sax and guitar solo in "Money".

HOHNER CLAVINET D6 (1975 - 1977) - The instrument of funk. A bassy type keyboard noted for its quick attack and staccato decay. Listen to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt. 8" during the Wurly solo, Wright plays the funky clav riff accompanied by EMS synths. The Clavinet is also featured on seperate WYWH tracks and a few Animals tracks. (Note by FloydWaters: I also believe this instrument appears on "Funky Deux", a track on Mr. Wright's first solo album, Wet Dream.)"
