AHA!!
Thanks farlukar - I reckon you've hit the nail on the head.
So it's an antiquated medium trying to be played on a state of the art browser (or something like that  ) and the two are just not compatible.

At least now I know, I know! :D

And yes, I too HATE sites that INSIST you listen to their music - especially when I've got my own tunes of preference playing at the time.
The sound clash can be horrendous!

Next time I get that message, I'll check the source code for embedded nonsense and not worry about it too much.

It's my guess that QT version 6.5.1 was used (and embedded) during site build and it's demanding that version.
All makes sense now, thanks man. :)

Update.

Since adjusting the settings for QT so certain pages displayed properly, mp3's don't download anymore.
Instead, when listening to tunes in the cafe for instance, the page I'm on turns into a blank white one (unless I remember to open in new tab, which you don't tend to do when clicking an mp3 link) with just a QT player in the middle of it.
It streams the tune instead of d/l'ing it, in other words.
Not only that, but it takes you out of the page you're on in order to do it.

I think I'll revert to my previous settings and if any page demands QT from here on in, well, do I really want to be there?

Really, this is just a heads-up to anyone who might experience similar probs with QT.
Leave it be. It's waaay too intrusive, imo.
