The $5.00 Clarinet
There's even an mp3 demo of this one.
The same author is also working on a sax, but hasn't quite perfected it yet:
The Plastic Fantastic Sax
I bookmarked it for the summer (when I usually get crafty with these ideas)

That wasn't the Blank Generation movie was it? Been a while since I've seen that. He was also in Geek Maggot Bingo, Blind Light, and a couple of other flicks, but he (sadly) sucks as an actorSteven West wrote:Ahhh, VOIDIOID - opps!![]()
What was the flick with Richard Hell and Andy Warhol?
All I can remember was Ricahard Hell walking around NY in the winter time, and Andy doing some interview where he starts taking polaroids constantly...

Audioshots auditorium will host anything for free as long as it's music related. You don't even have to join, no spam or popups etc.
I wanna hear this so please go
here
and upload those mp3s.
In these parts of the US, we used to make little whistles out of Silver Maple branches - my Dad showed me how.

That mp3 is pretty cool. Can you multisample it and host it in NNXT format? Thanks
Oh and don't forget velocity layers and release samples.... we need to hear the key clicks! (finger-taps?)
Vorn.

Are you serious, that mp3 was from the ballpoint? I have a hard time believing that - really. Where did all the low frequency stuff come from? Did you have a soda bottle glued to the pen somehow?

Nope, all ballpoint! It looks like it would be playing at least an octave higher than that, but it's surprising how low and mellow it sounds.
Don't believe me? Build one yourself...
You can use some types of grass stems, as well. Those sound much higher and harsher, and if you put two in your mouth, it sounds a bit like a miniature bagpipe!
As for the silver maple flutes, I'm just waiting for when my willow tree is ready, should be in a couple of weeks
I built a couple of bone whistles a while back, but I seem to have misplaced them, so no samples at the moment. But I've got pics...

So, has anyone else built a working ballpoint clarinet yet? My efforts have been unsuccessful so far.

I just destroyed a Bic in my effort to make one of these. I really wanted one for the office tomorrow. I guess I'll run my Kazooka through Amplitube/Logic tomorrow. But it won't be the same.

If you play with the bottom hole open, you can use it with the pen still inside! Then you can start making strange noises and if someone spots you, you just calmly start writing with it like nothing happened...freaks out the co-workers...braj wrote: I just destroyed a Bic in my effort to make one of these. Has anyone successfully created one of these yet? I'm still working on it. That mp3 demo sounded great.
