Maybe...They usually go for around £80-90 'in the flesh', so I know that's what I should be paying, hence when people bid them up past that on Ebay I'm outgunned

I have been playing with Izotope (great fun & fun easter egg too) I still have to do some more tweaking before I can A/B presets.dry bones wrote:As far as vinyl emulation goes, the Izotope Vinyl is a high quality free plug which can really dirty sound up
As far as that voltage goes on the Vortex, I am thinking mine is just a 110V wallwart, The unhelpful manual has this to say "Power Requirements: 9VAC, 1A wall transformer provided" gee thanks lexicon

Ok, this thread so far on replacing hardware effects has lead me to the following conclusions
TC Electronics M300 - only possible replacement is a convolution based plug so probably I should keep this hardware for now
Behringer Modulizer - this odd (and cheap) unit can probably be replaced easily w plugs, but I am still looking for a good stereo field expander and spectral exciter thing (I am going to check out BBE's plug)
Alesis Akira/Ineko - haven't heard any feedback yet, anyone else have one & have found some good filter & lo fi type plugs that do the body of akiras work? this is a tall order I think because this box is so deceptively simple and odd...plus all that goofy mangling with only 3 knobs, I just might keep it for now too.
And the the Lexicon Vortex - Anyone out there with Reaktor Sessions able to load Amor? I really love what this box can do, but it can be a real pain to dial in, and if by selling it I have an excuse to buy Reaktor Sessions....I guess what I need to know but can't find online (or in the demo) is if Sessions really can load Reaktor 3 ensembles.
phew that was my longest post yet
thanks for all the advice so far

No,the TC VSS3 plugin for the TC Powercore is the closest replacement for that period, but it will cost you(around $650.00 US or so) but if you can't afford that I wouldn't rule out using convolution along with your hardware,in fact you could make your own IR's of your hardware and your favorite presets, besides,SIR is free or Voxengo's Pristene Space(lower latencey) is only around $60.00.You might want to consider the TC PowerCore as well since it ships with 2 nice reverbs and is on sale for $319.00 this month at Sam Ash or you could get a similar discount on line at JRR Shop.birrman wrote: TC Electronics M300 - only possible replacement is a convolution based plug

I can't find it online either but I got their pamphlet in the mail about 2 weeks ago advertising this price, best to call them.Another option is JRR shop http://www.jrrshop.com/product_info.php ... ts_id=2069 which has it for $374.00 and I think(not positive)that kVR members recieve a 15% discount bringing it to the same price as Sam Ashbirrman wrote:Alan - do you have a link to that Sam Ash sale? not finding it online.
The PowerCore Element which is the basic PCI card which ships with these plugins. http://www.tcelectronic.com/Default.asp?Id=2815 Of course that can be expanded with the VSS3 and other plugs as finances allow. Also which PowerCore card is it?

Thanks Alan, I think for now Im going to keep the M300, it was only about $200 and I am satisfied with the reverbs, I really was kinda looking to spend the same or less on an equivalent plugin/card.

I A/B compared Izotope against the Modulizer last night (for the vinyl only obviously). Frighteningly enough I can almost nail exactly every vinyl preset on the Behringer with Izotope in just a matter of seconds.dry bones wrote:As far as vinyl emulation goes, the Izotope Vinyl is a high quality free plug which can really dirty sound up
Now to find a good stereo imager and a nice spectral exciter....

Ok i'm bumping my own thread because I am still hoping someone out there can answer 2 questions:
#1 Can Reacktor Session load a 3.x ensemble, or do you need someone with a Reaktor 4 and a Reactor 3 dongle to convert it first? Specifically I am interested in the ensemble called Amor.
#2 Anyone else have an Alesis Akira or Ineko and found something (or some combination of commercial or free vsts) suitable to replace it with in software?

Amor is in the reaktor user library, all of which has now been converted by Ni for R4 (AFAIK).

Ahh cool, thanks man, I saw it there but also saw it in another repository in ver 3 format, I couldn't quite understand if all the user banks were converted.whyterabbyt wrote:Amor is in the reaktor user library, all of which has now been converted by Ni for R4 (AFAIK).
