but this one's not only capable of wierd stuff it can be used as a very VERY natural reverb, too

Post

Hi Guys and gals,

So good to get back from work with such a positive response!

Wasn't intended to be a 'weirdverb' but it's just the way it turned out, more of an effect than an acoustic model thing.

I think this evening I'll change the roomsize param to focus more control on the smaller room sizes where things are more interesting and a couple of decimal places to the display.. At the moment I don't think it's possible to have smoother or intuitive transitions between the 'weird' settings because of the way the reverb is made, but I hope to find a way to allow more user-input into the shape of the reverb rather than just the irrregularity param..

Sorry about the CPU power issue it's just that it uses lots of delays linked by a special 'widget', It's the widget that consumes most of this (I think!).. It already uses quite an efficent algo, but I'll have a look through with fine toothed comb to see if i can slim it down..

Anyway, I'll let you know when there are more updates..

See You!

Is it supposed to be a mono reverb? I dont' seem to have any width in Cubase/Wavelab.

Post

Should be stereo.. I've tried it in synthedit and ableton and the width works ok(could still do with some improvement, I'm aware that you can sometimes get 'lopsided' reverbs..).. I'll have a look into this..

Thanks

Sorry, correction: it seems to be in mono in Wavelab, but not Cubase SX - I thought I had tried it in both. Sounds excellent in Cubase, btw!

What about something like a multiplier (or division) parameter?
Smaller values = good for adjustments in the "weird" area of certain parameters (mainly absorption, roomsize and quality), higher values = good for "basic" reverb things (for which it seems to be really nice too).
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Just uploaded the latest beta.. 8)

Realised I was wasting lots of possible permutations through rounding in the roomsize parameter part..

Now roomsize param has decimals and has more resolution for the smaller room sizes.. Also sounds alot smoother when changing parameters..

Thanks for the advice, also big thanks to the chaps at the auditorium for the hosting..

That's a fantastic reverb - I haven't decided yet whether it's on par with Ambience, but the fact that I do this comparison at all, should give you some idea about its quality.
It's a real CPU hog though - taking an IR of it and using that one in SIR would be much easier on my CPU. That way you couldn't tweak the parameters of course.
Maybe when the plug would take advantage of SSE, you'd save some CPU cycles. Unlike Ambience the quality setting really does change the sound quite drastically. That can be very interesting of course, but I'm more after the silky smooth type of reverb.
Anyway, I will be keeping an eye on the development of this one.
And yes a nice GUI would definitaly be cool at one point, but another one of Mully's bubblegum GUI would not be appropriate - at least to my taste.

Cheers, Pädy
