maybe a dumb idea, but try using psp wintagewarmer on your track... also there is a preset for bass guitars. works great for me

Markleford I'm also sure there's a routing problem here as well, as I stated (hence the supposedly big difference in sound) but even through the DI on my Grace pre alone, the bass sounds are not up to par when compared to a Sansamp. A nice Bass DI box along with a pre or an amp, is IMO the best way to record bass, without it the bass just never seems to sound as good as it could (btw you can replace this with a mic'd amp and a pre, etc, but it's still quite hard to beat a Sansamp); unless of course you're going for a more vintage sound. This is the only reason I'd recomend the Bass Driver even though there does seem to be something else going on here.
