I tried the demo version of audio studio and it has a rather nice freeze with a quick re-freeze feature.motion12 wrote:Does this have Freeze?
It also has aux and sends.
15 instruments at a time.
It seems to have a large capacity for insert effects in the audio section.
Very good audio editing.
Mix snapshots.(up to 6).
Multi-band compressor.
Cut down version of Amplitude.
A nice FFT filter.
My dermo timed out so I don't remember everything and didn't get to try everything, but was favorably impressed.
I was thinking of getting audio studio ($49)for audio editing but it doesn't let you use Vst effects.
The full Music Studio ($89) includes a Vst wrapper.

The relationship between Emagic and Magix has been that Samplitude was distributed (and supposed to be developed further) by Emagic, some 4 years or so ago - before Emagic decided Windows was a worthless platform for them.
I guess back then they allowed them to sell a stripped down version of Logic as Magix MIDI studio.
Regarding the FM synth, I could only guess that they licensed it from Emagic before it was released in any other Emagic/Apple package, and they just kept it away from their official releases to get some more interesting stuff for future updates.
I doubt you'll see any further originally Logic-only plugins from Magix in the future. Unless Emagic has started some secret side business beyond the lines of Apple.

For a test I plugged EXT into MidiStudio, used its sequencer for VST(i)s plus the native Carpet Sweeper and Percusor, rendered the tracks, imported them into AudioStudio, added some guitar and mixed the whole thing. I think for the price (MusicStudio plus EXT around 100 €) it's a very good opportunity and you can get very far with that combination, though it might not be the most comfortable one. Actually I like to do all of my mixing and ... err ... mastering
in AudioStudio. It feels just right for me.
AFAIK fake has been using MusicStudio for a long time and IMO the results speak for themselves. Anyone who is looking for a budget solution should at least consider MusicStudio or the combination of MusicStudio and EnergyXT. Certainly not erveryone's cup of tea but it works very well - and for me it has been stable so far.
For those who use a Creative Audigy I: You might run into troubles, though, because of the fixed 48k sample rate.
Regards,
Tommy

Maybe i should have said this in beforehand. I own Samp and was interested in how well the midi studio works ? If it has the Logic functionality i require and is updated in the compatibility with plugins department, music studio sounds like heaven for dirt cheap.PT wrote:I tried the demo version of audio studio and it has a rather nice freeze with a quick re-freeze feature.motion12 wrote:Does this have Freeze?

You are yet to answer the bit depth of exports in Midi studio and wether it has inserts too. Additinionally asking if it has the new L5 automation mode since all i saw mentioned was hyperdraw

Iv got the 2003 or 2004 version, it still on my machine, the different language help files nearly took up all my hard disk space. Yes its usable, but I wish I had came across Traction first, which is not much more in cost and far better. Though, I think Majix Movie Edit Pro is realy good value. Oh, its got a mixer, with multiple audio tracks, effects and it accepts direct X as well.

it rather was about three years ago - but actually the relationship betwenn Magix and Emagic is much olderSascha Franck wrote:The relationship between Emagic and Magix has been that Samplitude was distributed (and supposed to be developed further) by Emagic, some 4 years or so ago - before Emagic decided Windows was a worthless platform for them.

I think you may find that magix developed the synths originally for logic, hence the deal.
I dont think its the other way around.
BTW. If you have a friend who has logic then ask them for the presets for the synths as they work in Magix.
The ez piano also accepts the logic piano? presets and most of the fx do too.
I have increased my vax9 presets to over 250 by using the logic es1 presets, I also downloaded some a few years ago but I can't remember where from.
I could zip them all up and post them but I'm not sure if that would be legal?
The lack of inserts can be got round by using chainer.
I'm happy with it though.
PS I think the update is version dependant.
You cant beat people up then have them say "I love you"

Well... uhm. As I don't have to follow any NDAs anymore, I can tell you that those synths have been developed by Emagic. I actually happened to betatest the ES1.fake wrote:I think you may find that magix developed the synths originally for logic, hence the deal.

yes, it's not a secret - I've read an interview with the developers in the german 'Keys'-magazine - they worked for Emagic...Sascha Franck wrote:Well... uhm.
