The problem with changing the colour scheme of that the whole interface was designed with the original colour scheme in mind. I've spent quite some time trying to come up with other schemes and the original always wins out, because in order for other schemes to work properly other aspects of the interface would need to change somewhat.spaceman wrote:OMG!! I made a dark blue/gray skin in the style of Logic. The problem with a dark background colour is that the font on the filters becomes more or less unreadable (using a light font). It's little things like that make the interface not so configurable after all.

They're included in the demo. Try Grey and Red, deviated, and Steel and Orange.
The last one takes a bit to get used to. When I first started making it, I was like, "Err... hmm... this is going to be fugly." By the time I was done and used it in a session, I discovered that not only was it easy on the eyes (while being brighter than the default), but it was effective.
Nobody else prefers it to Grey and Red, but I do.

Ah yes, that's an issue.chagzuki wrote:I made a dark blue/gray skin in the style of Logic. The problem with a dark background colour is that the font on the filters becomes more or less unreadable (using a light font). It's little things like that make the interface not so configurable after all.
Dark schemes don't get along so well.
But that doesn't mean that all other schemes don't work. The lighter ones and some of the dark ones work fine. But yes, there ARE issues with dark-background schemes.
In some combinations, though, a light or even white font on a dark background looks good. It's just not as consistently successful as black on light.
Also, a bugette--> some of the screen elements don't update until you switch to another tab and back.

I know that I absolutely adore the original Tracktion skin. But as good as it was (and despite my saying I'd never use anything else), I think I prefer the first scheme I made over the original, and it was only 20 minutes of work. As it takes so little time, I'm sure I'll be able to build a handful to suit all my moods, without wasting too much time. And yes, I find I can work just fine using them.
I gotta say, though, I absolutely hate the T2 default scheme.
edited because LM posted twice before I got a chance to put in my two cents.

Wow, sorry to sound unpleasant, but those schemes illustrate my point very well. Whilst some aspects of the interface look OK, other aspects are buggered completely and the end result is not pretty. BTW, I was on the beta list too and considered my own attempts at creating schemes unworthy for public consumption. Quite frankly, I'm not impressed with this aspect of T2: it's ill-thought out. If the interface were skinnable, that'd be a different story.Lunch Money wrote:They're included in the demo. Try Grey and Red, deviated, and Steel and Orange.

HI
I think at this time there are people designing some pretty 'out there' front ends to their software - I don't know if a specialist graphics person did T2 (which I personally can live with!) but the thought of skins sounds awesome - I mean look at some of the brilliant ones that have appeared for WUSIK Station.
porpoise.

I actually prefer my T2 skin to Logic... I was really sort of surprised how much of an effect, just changing the interface look did for my perception of the program... My philosophy is that the program interface should not be the focus... rather, the elements your working with!

It's quite amazing how much fun it is to make new styles. And also how much more comfortable the environment can be when you do so. Now, I do really like the T1 theme, but changing the colors can actually change my mood when recording. Kind of wierd......
