Ha, good advice! I found that Autechre plays Montreal on Tuesday. That should be great. I will consider NIN too, I just don't like their new stuff and the tickets are expensive.
Now, where do the college aged girls hang out? That's the only remaining question

Well in Toronto, the question more likely is where don't they? Throw a stone, etc. Although they might be a bit tired at the moment, what with exams just ending and summer jobs just starting.BrianEnglish wrote:Now, where do the college aged girls hang out? That's the only remaining question
If you are looking for slutty women, head to the club district around Adelaide and Duncan. (downtown, just south of Queen and west of University).
If you are looking for hipsters, stick with College St, Queen West or Bloor West (the Annex, and again, just ask someone for directions.)

yeah the posts on this thread have definitely been spot on in terms of what to do in toronto.
Chinatown is fun, Little Italy(college st.) and the Annex are the top neighbourhoods to walk around in-these are all close to each other. Queen Street West is fun too.
My favorite bar is the Orbit Room on college street they have great funk everynight(or at least most nights!).
Also on Bloor street is our Long and Mcquade headquarters... they have a killer Keyboard department. I think they are closed on sunday though, but if you can head over there it's good to see what we're offering in that regard.
In Montreal all I can remember is St. Laurent and St. Catherine both very cool streets to browse around. And I dont think it's true that Torontonians arent as nice as Montrealers cause some of the french have a little hostility to english speaking tourists but it's not that bad. it was worse a few years ago when many were adament about seperating from canada.

Actually, the really hip thing to do in T.O. is sit in your hotel room all day with the laptop on the WiFi and post on the KVR how there's nothing to do in T.O. And don't forget to complain about the weather.

actually in this month's Relix magazine my favorite toronto band(fav band in general) The New Deal says where newcomers to the city should head to.
1. Swatow's buffet in Chinatown - open till 4 am and Shearer says he "usually gets the cold tea and singapore noodles" with a wink and a nod... i've personally never been there.
2. the ROM museaum(as stated in this thread before). it takes too long to get through the whole thing IMO unless you're in TO for a good amount of time
3. The Art Gallery(also stated here)
4. Bata Shoe Museum... i like this suggestion. it's a quick tour and it's fun.

oh and the best sub sandwich in toronto is Belly Buster's Submarines. sooo good. best hamburger is at Burger Shack.

Toronto is just 'spin city' economically and politically.
If you're into 'the science of sound (and other things)' - You cannot miss The Ontario Science Center! Out of the way at Don Mills and Eglinton, but I think it's one of the best all day fun places in the world. The workings of communications, transportation, civilasations, explorations all within a mamooth complex built on a steep valley hillside. I haven't been in dogs years, but I think it still possesses one of the most fun, cheap, and enlightening experiences that can be had in Toronto.
Montreal, definately get to Old Montreal and catch some jazz in the clubs around midnight - even if you HATE jazz, you'll love it there.
And relax parisian style around the Jewish Quarter just around the base of Mont Royal. Lovely, old and warm feelings throughout there.
And take Garrets advice indeed. Oh Quebec City, how I love thee!
Enjoy your stay in Canada...eh?

Kinky you say?
Northbound Leather, and a skip over to Church street to Boots to parade your attire is always fun.

Well Boots has been closed for about 6 years (my apt overlooks it) It is now the Clarion Hotel. Was never on Church St though.Steven West wrote:Kinky you say?

Anyway, maybe take in Casa Loma for the historical type touristy crap. This place is in the general area of Dupont & Bathurst St.
Be sure to wander around Chinatown Dundas & Spadina area (as has been mentioned previously) and while you are in that area jump over to Kensington Market which is only a few blocks northwest of there. This area is a bit of a dump but there is some real culture there and it is quite the hot spot always.
And one other thing to see is how toronto deals with people committing suicide on the Bloor Street Viaduct. Their solution is actually quite a monstrosity but many find it quite interesting.
Things to avoid:
Toronto Eaton Centre (its a mall - enough said)
Bloor & Yonge St (quite boring) although the further west you go on Bloor the more interesting it gets.
