oops! yes, thats right. so use the range-tool with snap to events selected?

what do you mean with GUI automation?

:D

Bas.
Thanks Bas, I was looking in the wrong place (auxbuss), I'll have a look when I'm back home.

Could you explain the concept of the logic templates, please? Are these curves for automation, or whole automation track levels that are used as templates?

Cheers,

bas.

lol, hardly enuff for a tutorial!? there is a preset 'automation follows events' ..
I think you'll find that the preset you refer to as 'automation follows events' is in fact a preference on the Preferences for Editng menu. This only applies to Audio Events and not Midi Events.

Efluon maybe you better make sure to check out the tutorial when it is launched.

Bas thanks for adding it to your tutorial, as I think it could be worthwhile to more that just the odd user.

Thank you sir.

I hope it is.

HI

For an overview of how Logic uses 'Saved' Automation visit 'keyfax' who distribute a program called 'Gridlocked' - this is basically a massive set of automation templates that come in a variety of shapes, sizes, length to give you unlimited potential.

In use you simply load up your automation data - which as stated is a large screen full of clips - you open a second project and drag the data accross - I am sure there are other ways of using it.

Flipper.

just found out about sx3 unleashed, I'll probably go for net-only version as soon as I get Cubase SL3.

Creating a project that is used to store useful automation curves is easy enough in SX. I may add it as 'tips and tricks' tutorial, so thanks for the heads up. It is better to provide people with what they want, rather than me just create esoteric guides.

soulata, I hope you enjoy the tutorials. I am pretty certain that there will be a few things in there that will make life a little easier.

Regards and thanks,

Bas.

BTW, are you going to make Cubase Complete available in print form again?

Funnily enough, I just completed the typesetting updates for the new version of SX3 Complete over the weekend. It'll take a while longer to finish, though. I'm undecided whether to print it, or to only supply the PDF.

I'd prefer a printed one (for a fair price).

On the other hand, I have a laser printer so...

That's the problem. Books are expensive to print and ship - especially large, heavy technical books.

I know. But you've managed to do it before (was it 40$ with shipping?).

Group buy maybe  ?

Hi Marc, I've bought the book before and it has been a great companion.
One thing I would like to see more detail on is how to integrate a number of different midi controler into cubase.
Especially to control VSTi's. The mixer-one is mostly very clear, but explaining an example setup with a controler (like a e.g. BCR2000) to control the differne VSTi's, and that in combination with a keyboard which also has some extra controlers (Korg Kontrol 49, Novation Remote etc.). Then how everything is supposed to be done when switching from one track to another, so that certain functions stay the same ( mixer level or effect control ) but that others move along with the VSTi you switch to.

Kindest regards,

Bart (from Belgium)
