Sure, if you're not distributing the samples from the Triton it's all good. Distributing the converted samples is something else. Owning the synthesizer does not legally give you right to distribute the sounds, of course.vherbal wrote:For One Its Beacuse Ive Owned THis Triton Extreme For About 6 Months Now...MUCHO DENIRO...Actually I THink You Are Wrong...By Owning THis Piece Of Hardware Once Again "Mucho Deniro" I Should Be Allowed To Do Whatever I Want With It And THe Data It COntains..Now As Far As Distributing THe Contents Of The Tritons Internal ROM I Would Be Yes Breaking THe Law But If ITs For My Own Use I DOnt See THe Harm In That..If Its Wrong I DOnt Wanna Be Right..Sorry If I Tore A Your Moral Fiber

Actually I thought it was awful,in fact I think all those synthline CD's are awful and are an absolute rip-off.They sound like they were sampled in 8 bit using crappy converters and are basically one shot samples to boot.Last discussion we had here on them mentioned they were sued by Roland and Korg, and rightfully so.biggrime wrote:I got Korg Triion for Halion and i have to say I am dissappointed. The sounds are great!

Well, also I don't really think the Triton sounds are the best out there. I mean, they certainly are spectacular for live shows, but I don't really see the point converting the Triton sounds to be usable on a computer seeing that there are so many better sounds available for computers. For example, why rip the Triton sounds when you could be using NI's B4? I've found plenty of free soundfonts that beat out Triton's piano sound hands-down.Alan wrote:Actually I thought it was awful,in fact I think all those synthline CD's are awful and are an absolute rip-off.They sound like they were sampled in 8 bit using crappy converters and are basically one shot samples to boot.Last discussion we had here on them mentioned they were sued by Roland and Korg, and rightfully so.biggrime wrote:I got Korg Triion for Halion and i have to say I am dissappointed. Really what makes Triton's sounds sound impressive is the onboard effects. Also the quadrasynth approach to the synthesizer is very powerful, too. But really, the sounds aren't THAT amazing compared to the other stuff that's out there right now. I remember when I first tried out a Triton, I was so impressed! But then after playing around with them years later after being spoiled by all the cool softsynths and samples, I went back and played a Triton, listening to the sounds. There really not all that great. The sounds have obvious looping, and IMO they're way too hi-fi sounding. It's like someone took an EQ and boosted the highest frequency to the max.
Anyways, I know many people idolize the Triton sounds, and that's cool, I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but take a look at the sounds around you...

The Drum Kits Are Lackluster...ANd A Majority Of The SOunds Are A Little To Bright...Every Preset Has Delay For Some Reason Even The SubBass...But Some Of The Combis Are Great Mainly The Strings And Brass Sounds...Oh Yeah And By The Way That Tube Pre And The End Of THe Signal Chain On The Extreme Was A Good Idea But In Order TO Add Any Warmth You Are Forced TO Deal With About 40Db Of Hiss And Hum...I DOnt Want TO Use Noise Gate On Every Track..I Feel Like THis Is Keyboard THerapy And Im Letting Out All My Grievances..I Still Wouldnt Mind Having My Triton Soundset At My Disposal Via HALion..But After Further Research I Found That You Can Only Convert Other Formats Into The Triton Sample Format Not Vice Versa...I Had A Dream

The closest you'll get to that is with the Wavestation in the Korg Legacy Collection,at least to my ears anyway.I know the Wavestation is different than the Triton, but to my ears practically every Korg released after the M-1 pretty much sounded like the same engine with improvements as the line grew,in fact after years of collecting great custom soundsets for my X-3,I passed on the Triton as it didn't really offer me anything new soundwise(in fact the factory presets don't come close to my custom X-3 sets),except perhaps the added bit depth in the effects and sampling which I don't need. The Legacy though, will give you the korg sound on your machine, and sampling doesn't really cut it for any complex synth as far as I'm concerned.Too bad its not compatible with all their line for patch imports.vherbal wrote:I Still Wouldnt Mind Having My Triton Soundset At My Disposal Via HALion..But After Further Research I Found That You Can Only Convert Other Formats Into The Triton Sample Format Not Vice Versa...I Had A Dream
