Just like an old skool multifx unit / rack has reverbs / delays / flangers / phasers / el cheapo amp sims / bit reduction (up to three effects in series max) - Uses stupendously low CPU sounds and sounds remarkably like an early to mid 90's mid to low price range multifx rack .
This would be my best recommendation IMHO
Second runner up for more experimental verb's would be Glaceverbs - Dasample.
The two combined make a pretty great low CPU effects bundle with lots of tweek BTW

Yes the luxonix effect rack is really cool! Forgot about it actually. The cpu usuage is basically nothing, even if you chain a flanger/delay/verb. And it has a fairly decent spring reverb too!

I've been using the e-phonic retrodelay, but if anyone wants to try the old dub box, help yourself.

Hi sinkmusic--I've tried to emulate your problem on 2 systems (intel and AMD) using Live versions 4.0.4, 4.1.1, and 4.1.3. dubbox always loads up as an effect not a VSTi. Dubbox does have a MIDI input so this is what may be 'fooling' your setup into thinking its a VSTi...Maybe you could try replacing dubbox in your fx chain using energy xt as the effect, then load in dubbox into eXT? On more than a couple of occasions, I've had to do this but it works like a charm and without much added CPU cycles
