By the way, what inspired me to write the above was returning to America after hanging out with these REAL hip hop guys in The Land of Smiles.

I really hope this thing about posting on BBS's and chatrooms about how you're a really hot chick about to take your clothes off doesnt actually catch on on the internet. Cos that could start to get really confusing...

That's just a damn shame. Funny thing is, I seen those potato chips over at our corner store. Have yet to see the drink yet, but I imagine when it gets there (by the way, this liqour store is a block from my old middle school, two blocks from me now) the children will by the crunk juice im bulk on lunch break.

It has grown from the streets of new york to an international multicultural experience and art form with different nations and peoples reinterpreting the 4 foundations of hip hop, beats, breakin', graf, and rhyme to fit their local cultural aesthetic. Hip Hop in the world still represents anti-establishment and a force of change (see Ukranian election song)... Meanwhile, in America, the hip hop has moved on to redifine those 4 foundations as, crunk, ice, product placement, and co-branding.

As such it was only a matter of time before people wanted to live, breath and EAT hip hop!

Interesting topic. (Do not spoil it with trivial sexism and self indulgency - you do have your moments of brilliance).

Hip hop is the new trend / rock & roll of the new century. Me liking it or not does not matter. It is not only music - it is poetry. I have watched the movie 8 miles about I-do-not-know-how-many-times even though I do not like hip hop in itself. I like the movie because it brings the philosphy of the art-form out. It is the poetry of the street. That was what people wanted R&R to be 40 years back, Everybody said Bob Dylan was the poet of the new age. Well, he was pretty good, but he does not deliver to the new generation anymore. The new generation demands something more direct. Hip hop is the way to deliver it now.
