Nope, it isn't as we haven't been able to clear the copyright issues.
Seems as if nobody knows whom it was, doing that (admittedly nice) soundfont.
I'd say that one of the string banks is from cadenza strings, and another string bank is an e-mu bank called Portamento.

The whole affair is most likely patched together from various commercial sounds.

That's what I allready suspected.
Unfortunately, quite some of the socalled "free" orchestral soundfonts seem to be.
I mean, how many people are actually in a position to sample a string section? Even if I really wanted, I'd have a hard time in doing so - and mind you, I've got permanent access to the local conservatory's studio, some excellent mics and great sounding rooms, plus there's great orchestral players all over the place. Yet, it'd be an enormous task to even get a single violin patch done, due to organisational issues (I actually even planned such a thing but abandoned it shortly thereafter).

That's why I went and bought GPO. If I am going to make orchestral music I'd like to know I could sell it (that's probably a dream) without copyright headaches. Plus I don't like the idea of using someone elses hard work for free without their consent.

I havn't really found any very good free strings anyway.
SJO is OK but not that good. It's OK for slow parts.

That sf2midi site seems to be about 80-90% repackaged commercial sounds. It's pobably one of the reasons E-mu went to a hardware solution for their sounds. People will at least have to go through the trouble of re-sampling to steal the sounds.

WOAH, this forum is really active. Crazy...

Anyway, I like contributing instead of nagging. Nagging doesn't get you anywhere, but if you help people and contribute, people WANT to help you. There's my speech. It made you cry, didn't it...

Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

I actually bought EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition. It's pretty awsome, but with my crappy computer, I can't use it untill I get my good one fixed. I did make some songs with it though when my computer did work. It's pretty amazing. Sounds so good. I wish I had gold version though. I don't wont platum, I think that's just TOO much power.

I don't want to help you. I'll keep all my links secret!
I just want you to post some more!
