you must have missed the part where he said "..trying out the DEMO..".. as far as I know (and I know) Cakewalk does not give 700 page manuals to demo usersbillybk1 wrote:There is a nice, nearly 700 page paper manual that is included, with the purchase, of SONAR. The problem is that Origami is a long time kvr regular. Accusing him of using warez is sort of on the impolite side.Cabinfever wrote:i care. and are you trying to start another dull warez thread ? or will you just say that you support warez users and we can leave it at that ?LIMITAPROACHINGINFINITY wrote:I disagree.. That manual sucks ass. Period. Unless youve been a legacy customer and know how everything in all the older versions worked.
And who gives a shit if he doesnt have the real manual.
But I guess being ethically stainless does tend to involve being rude.

no problem then. I repeat I was talking about the demo. I actually found out the help files were exactly what i needed so all's right with me.
But don't be so quick in judging anyone of using illegal copies.

...well, that is a shame.I don't think you could do better than Sonar Power by Scott Garrigus.
As a potential customer, if you want a little insight into Sonar's capability or specifics on using the demo, then Scott's book is OK. However, all the book does is paraphrase cakewalks manual; it is very superficial and does not add any value of its own.
I am one of the fools who bought Sonar, then bought Scotts book. I was expecting enlightenment and insightful tutorials; what I got was a Parrot.

thanks anyway. I haven't had time yet to look into Sonar but I'm going to try it. My intention is to keep using FL and maybe use it as a plugin inside Sonar and then to benefit of the advantages of Sonar. I'm still hesitating between Cubase SL and Sonar Studio, we'll see, we'll see...

I'm pretty sure there's a complete help doc included with the demo

Check your install directory. I know that the full version has a pdf of the manual. I don't know if the demo does or not. I used both SL and Sonar, and ended up going back to Sonar.

Well, like I said, I haven't cracked open Cake's manual, so I couldn't tell you whether it's really close or not, but based on what I've heard elsewhere, the Power books have a more laid-back tone (easier to read), and go into more detail regarding specific tasks and using the included effects. Your comments are actually the first I've seen that were negative (about the book), but hey, it's your opinion. And I have mine. No need to be snide about it. (Why is it a shame simply because you disagree?).pummel wrote:...well, that is a shame.I don't think you could do better than Sonar Power by Scott Garrigus.

Your remark that "You're one of the fools who bought Sonar", suggests not so subtly that you don't like the program either. This certainly helps to put into perspective where you're coming from.

Not in the states. My copy of Sonar 4PE came with a 704 page manual.munchkin wrote:As far as I remember, Sonar 4 ships with a cut down version of the manual. If you want to get the full manual you have to buy it.

any of you use FL as a plugin inside Sonar? I've read positive opinions about that combination...
