Many hosts do not properly pass keystrokes to the VST, some don't properly send mousewheel info either... Thus far Tracktion has the best implementation by far... as it will pass all keystrokes/mousewheel info properly to the VST. eXT unfortunately doesn't. I don't think this is so much a VST thing as it is a host thing. For example, if you load the standalone, then eXT-VST inside of it. When you click on the eXT-VST window.. no keystrokes are passed to it, cos the keystrokes are applied to the standalone. Do the same with tracktion, and your keystrokes effect the VST.
So unfortunately, I think don't think it's much jorgon can do other than fix the standalone to pass keystrokes... beyond that, it seems like it's on the other host developers to handle passing keystrokes properly.

Thanks for the info ModuLR + subz, I will pass this onto the renoise forum where taktik will hopefully be able to sort this.
Edit: before I do though would it be possible to confirm this jorgen as other VSTs in renoise work fine with regards to this.
i.e. could it be a mixture of bug in XT VSTs and renoise/ XT sa.
I can do a more accurate bug report for renoise then if required.
Cheers

It works if you have focus on a child window of the XT vst open though (at least hosted in Live and itself) so I'm guessing it's more likely a problem with XT. For instance, try to press F7 to hide the master mixer in the XT vst - nothing happens. Open up and focus on a sequencer and press it, and it works.

mouse-wheel doesnt't get reliably sent to when a eXT VST is loaded (and docked) in the standalone (example: seq inside ext which is inside seq in standalone doesn't react to mousewheel zooming).
this is very tedious (especially when you're used to mouse-wheel zooming and then having to find those tiny little buttons per cursor).
edit: well , i just remebered that delete and other stuff didn'T work properly as well .

Oh yeah. Funnily enough, I was thinking about this just earlier.
