Thanks everybody for the practical and well informed advice, Basslane was exactly the type of plugin I was seeking, since some other considerations have been highlighted I will experiment with Ozone and Basslane as group fx (to determine the most transparent process) combined with the 'HPF send' technique for stereo fx where appropriate.
