I'm defenitely spending too much time browsing KVR, but IMO that's still better than surfing around somewhere else - which I would most likely do just as much in case KVR didn't exist.
So it's got not much of an impact on my creative output. I'd say, if at all, it was slightly positive, some of the monthly contests have certainly made me work on something.

hmmm.....
on one hand:
- i spend a lot of time reading here instead of making music.
- kvr has further fed my pre-existing gear additction.
- when i run into a problem with a song im trying to write, i often end up giving up and coming here to surf rather than continue to focus and solve my problem.
on the other hand:
- i've never been a prolific composer so its not like all my time before i came here was spent finishing songs.
- kvr opened my eyes up to what softsynths can do. this not only gave me access to lots of new sounds, but it also give me a new way to work and actually has been more economical than my old hardware habit.
- kvr inspired me to get into synthedit, which not only gave me a new creative outlet, but also got me to write some songs because of the demos.
- i've written some demos for other people's products too.
- i've entered into a few of the cafe contests.
- the members here have taught me a lot about production and other music/audio subjects.
last year was one of the most productive for music (and music related projects) i had in god knows how long. some if it was due to kvr, some of it wasnt. but i cant say that kvr has had no effect on my music production because it definitely has...both good and not so good.
so, although kvr has definitely been a distraction, its also been a source of inspiration. but due to a lack of a 'both' option, i voted fish.

Hmm... yes and no.
Even though I spend way too much time here, KVR is probably the place that got me back into music after 15 years of almost no playing.
The monthly competition is a very good learning exercise for me.
Listening to others here helps too..... sometimes at least.

I said no change because it doesn't change my production...it does give me something productive to do with the time that I can't work on music...mainly when I have to let my studio be our livingroom...

Because, I spend so much time wading through threads here that music making does suffer as a result.
On the other hand, if I'm 'on a roll' with a track, I'll deliberately avoid it here because I don't want distracting.
I've learnt a lot here - I don't reply to every thread I read. Often there's no need to unless a point is raised that may be interesting but unclear and I want to learn about the subject matter.
But mostly I just read the info/learned threads. There are some knowledgable folk here more than willing to share that knowledge with the rest of us.
I'd still continue to make 'music' (as I did long before I joined here) but, possibly, my valued source of how to's may be a lot more sparce.
So 'other' because there's no simple reply for me on this.

the knowledge base here has enabled me to do things i was previously unable to do ...
the helpful members here have have gotten me through problems i was unable to solve myself ...

Not too long here at KVR nor other places in the net.
I passed a lot of years creating music with my computer for nobody nor for myself, because I haven't had the need of finishing nothing. In the other hand I ever loved machines, specially the musical ones, say synths, sequencers,.... but never had the budget to buy one.
Today I can play, in the childish sense, with FM, substractive, additive, physical modeling and none of these kinds of synths. Perhaps the problem as been told here is passing from the defect to the excess, but once the pendulum goes from one end to the other, the things tend to stability. In the way we've got a lot of knowledge (never enough, for sure ) on the things that like for myself: music and audio & musical technology. And you meet people that share this likings, or do you talk about with a lot of your friends, brothers or whatever and don't have the sense they think you're mad?

I dont think this is the case. Visiting a forum and talking to (generally) knowledgable people cant help but be beneficial.
That said, there are alot of people who end up being able to talk a mix better than being able to produce one! They learn so much theoretical stuff, yet dont have the skill or experience to put it into practice. Again, this is probably not a bad thing - better to know a lot than to know nothing, right?
Iv learnt infinite amounts since I joined this forum a few years ago, so for me its been 100% beneficial.

Kvr can definately get in the way of me getting a project done sometimes, but on the other hand It has taught me so much about software and usually I dont even have to ask when I have a question. This place is pretty big and has been around for a good while so someone else probably already asked it. So while kvr sometimes slows me down, it has made me much better at the things I do create. Sometimes after I finish something I get really scared that I'll never be able to write any decent music again. Kvr helps, especially as some of you are hilarious. I voted fish, after all this is a kvr poll and fish just seems the most fitting.
