I dont think that FL is changing that much between versions. the nuts and bolts of the program havent really been changed since version 3. At this point yer just getting new features with every release. The only reason IL suggests completing yer projects in the version they were started in is because they may update a synth or effect and its sound may change slightly. I know I would be pretty pissed if I couldnt open projects in V5 that I was working on in V4.

Back to yer reboot issue, that sounds like either a bad plugin or bad driver. they did have some plug in wrapper fixes as well, so that may be an issue. Make sure to un tick "automagically reboot" in yer start up and recovery options so you can catch the BSOD error message.

Stupid American Pig: On the tempo issue, the other XOR song (Jarresque) loaded the tempo fine, so possibly the file got corrupted on my side (possible given all the probs with my PC).

I narrowed it down to leaking capacitors which I discovered on my old Epox motherboard. It was just becoming erratic over the last few days and not even booting. Uprading to a new motherboard and Athlon64. That's gonna reduce the beer budget... (and possibly the beer belly too...)

ahh the bad caps- my brother got stuck with 2 bad motherboards because of that. I just purchased a new MSI socket939 board, I hope that has been sorted by now...

Do you mean it played at like 1/3 of its real speed?Did you get a blue screen and an error message when u got back?I had a similar problem before and it didnt have to do with fl
when the tempo suddenly doubles up it means some application (perhaps FL itself) has changed the souncard's sample-rate without FL noticing it. I have the sample problem ocassionally with Tracktion - a simple restart of the driver cures the problme...

Tempo doubled on some songs that used "illegal" step settings. It's normal - just adjust the tempo. This "incompatibility" was intentional and was introduced in 5.0 - it was breaking something that wasn't done properly to begin with and was taking advantage of a limitation in FL.

ive opened v4 projects fine in v5 for only the first time, but then went back a second time to find them corrupt (as u can imagine, corrupt project files can be heart-breaking, so when you try this, backup your project files).

Also, saved channel settings sometimes take forever to load (sometimes just freezing/crashing FLStudio)

However, SOME projects opened just fine.

Jeez...read the helpfile ;)

The problem with the tempo arises when you changed the beats per bar in older versions. Look up "Compatibility with Older Projects".

If you're too lazy, here's the formula:

4 * (old project tempo) / (number of steps per beat) = (new tempo)
