Guitar sims are not for "real guitarists"--whatever that means.
I guess real guitarists are those that are releasing professional products. I'm sure you mean "real" in that the guitarist does it for a living, and that "real" is not an absolute statement on talent level. There are plenty of excellent guitarists who have other jobs.
I still like the sims for cleanish sounding guitar or light overdrive/crunch. I'd put the POD XT Pro above the software type sims. I have GR2 and don't regret the purchase.
I also have an amp and some great microphones for recording purposes. I'm not a real guitarist though.

Do you guys know how NI Guitar Rig and Amplitude compare performance wise?

I've seen Guitar Rig in action and looks like it takes quite a bit of CPU power!

Don't listen to idiots who coin phrases that start with the words "REAL guitarists don't..."

It's the clearest sign that they have no idea what they're talking about...or that they're so wrapped up in their own view of the world that they'll refuse to acknowledge any opinion or information that runs contrary to their limited and biased beliefs.

These are the same idiots who (at the start of the Computer Music revolution) said things like "Real musicians don't use computers".

They're just afraid that the world is expanding beyond their limited little subset of knowledge and expertise.

imho Waves GTR is the head on all emulators.

Natural sound and usable in mix..

Really dynamic also... and corpous

imho naturally.. and post tweakink tweaking tweaking all softwares

on my ears, if i hear gr2 post waves gtr, the first appears to me "arid"

Real Guitarists...couldn't afford all that gear, therefore GR (and everything else likewise), is simply something every guitarist should have in thier arsenal, being that it is realtively cheap....

and when you get rich enough from playing, you can go buy the real stuff. But no cheating, waiting tables to save your money for that expensive gear doesn't count...."I seen the broken plate and the damage done"

Is there a way to roll back to a previous Kontakt 7 version? They made Version 7.10.7 to nagware. And this dialog comes with every call of the instrument.

Yeah found a way, thanks. It's a feature. And enabled by default. It's the Enable New Instruments for you panel.
