Thanks for Votes.
Because the effect has 10 votes (or more), I moved it to "Highest-rated" and hope that it will be included (because it's already ported and it's required only to apply my patch to audacity).

kewl!...but no need to stop the vote:
if you use Paulstretch- do go vote for the Audacity inclusion! Doesn't take too much time to figger out the vote process (though it ain't exactly straight fwd, its easy enough and a very small price to pay to have this advantage added to Audacity
)
Thanks again, Paul

sorry, s_t... I don't think "proxy" voting is allowed for this sort of thing, and I do know what you mean about having to register too many places on teh interweb. I reckon we can thank the bad people for forcing change to less than transparent process's_t wrote:I'm not registered to audacity wiki (there is just too much registrations around the web), but you can definitely add one vote for me.

In regards to an au/vst version, I definitely would like to see something of the sort come to fruition. There is an au that has a end result similar to extreme stretching in Michael Norris' Spectral Suite, namely the gate and hold plug-in. Personally there are many uses for real-time extreme stretching... esp. if you make ambient music.
For instance I would like a real-time extreme stretcher to basically make live Stars of the Lid type sounds. Generally what I want is a plug that you can set a certain fade in and fade out time and indicate the time you want stretched, for instance a 5 sec fade in/out and a 30 sec stretch for a 1/2 second guitar strum. The gate and hold plug-in somewhat accomplishes this, but it isn't always accurate on its timings/results. There are other freeze-based plug-in's out there, but not many for OS X or free/open-source like paulstretch.
I suppose that the more practical implementation is freezing the audio rather than time stretching, but since I am not a programmer I do not know or understand any complications. Jean-François Charles supposedly has made a real-time extreme time stretching Max/MSP patch that he used in a piece called Plex utilizing a phase vocoding technique. There are examples of stretching/freezing in real time by him here: http://www.cycling74.com/twiki/bin/view ... oisCharles but the patch used for Plex isn't available as far as I know.
I wish that there would be an update to the paulstretch standalone. Updated to the newer PortAudio, etc. builds. Definitely wish it could be compiled easily on OS X, b/c the port doesn't work for me. And an updated version would make it easier to compile on Linux.
