Nope! :D No complaints from me now!

Thanx Admiral!

Heh, Totc. No problem, good suggestion!

The pitchbend smoothing is actually OK. I was concerned about performance lag but I think I found a sweetspot where it smooths very grainy messages out just enough but still feels responsive and VERY springy. So I made PB Smoothing=On the new default. (You can turn it off in the Options Dialog if you liked it the old way.)

I'll consider adding smoothing for other things (the mod wheel and filter cutoff controls are the most obvious candidates) but remember that each one is like adding another filter (and for pitchbend, ever since supporting MIDI guitar that's a different pitchbend filter per voice!). So I don't want to go any further until there's been yet more optimization done. I don't want it any slower than it is now before the 1.0 release. But PB smoothing seems worth it, does produce more musical results, and the lag isn't so much that you feel it during performance so... so be it! You changed my mind! :)

Cheers!

How do you use the FX version of Polyana? I read the info in the readme section and that didn't help one bit. I tried the FX version after and before another synth and with the IN-1 and IN-2 buttons enabled. (In eXT2)Anything else? Could you give step by step instructions how to do this?

I got MiniMonsta FX up and running in 2 minutes, but this has me stumped.

Thanks Admiral.

Are you hitting a key or keys so the sound can get through the envelopes? :dog:

(There's a new hold button to the right of the keyboard to help here. :) )

And you need to press the IN-1 and/or IN-2 buttons on the filters if you want to use the incoming sound as sound. Otherwise incoming sound is just goes to the IN-1 and IN-2 modulation sources, which you can use to make envelope following effects, etc.

Was it either of those things? If not, don't worry, we'll work through it.

And yes, I need to include some effect patches to demo stuff more easily.

Try this patch on Poly-AnaFX Improv. Sounds great on electric guitar but will probably work on lots of other sounds too.

You need to hold a key down. But because this is a polyphonic synth, you can actually hold a chord down and you'll get that many more envelope following filters... all playing in harmony with each other. Recommend activating the hold button then hitting each C on the keyboard. Makes this crazy "reverse vocoder" sound. Sounds almost like a talkbox. Neat.

Hello,
I just downloaded the demo and it reports itself as being version 1.0.0.1. I love the sound, I'm not sure about the GUI, but the CPU usage on big unison patches way too high for it to get used here. Is this version 1.0.0.1 the RC2 version?

Thanks,
Roger

Post

What are you reading that in cleverr?

It's 0.91. RC2. 1.0 will be out on April 2.

Post

Hi,
That's what's reported under file version in the file properties in explorer.

Roger

Post

Ah, yes because that's the version of the file, not the release. Ignore that, it's always 1.0.0.1.

Post

Ok thanks.
Nice sound, but I'll de-install for now and come back when I've got a quad core. However, I consider highish CPU that delivers high quality as being a non-issue in the medium term onwards. Congratulations on developing this synth.

All the best,
Roger

I just gotta say: I downloaded the latest version, because the end of the initial offer is drawing nigh, and holy !#!^%@$, Admiral!! :hyper: :hail: Jesus, this is really shaping up to be the best softsynth ever. You'll have my order before April! :D

Man, holy crap. Well done. Each patch stops my heart. :drunk:

Hi Admiral,

Just downloaded your synth, and i'm pretty well pleased with the way it sounds. I'd use a synth like this in many of my songs if it wasn't for that GUI..lol

My brain just can't handle the way the gui looks.. it suggests some sort of 3-d idea which is all sorts of wrong, and which causes me a headache in the end.

Can you make a version which has just a simple top view? I mean it's all nice to be able to render 3d buttons, but i think the whole thing would look so much better. I'd say tidy up the whole thing a bit, make it look easier on the eyes. It shouldn't be too hard to have that many buttons and to still have it look clean.

I'd totally love it ifit could look something like this for example:
