+1 here Tattietattiemannie wrote: I think it's safe to say that there is a lot of enthusiasm for a Galileo comp, so the idea is not likely to to be dropped however long it takes for it to be made ready. So no pressure on Max, there are plenty of ideas around to keep us busy while we wait for Galileo.
Gamma - ah, Chimera. I'm really going to have to work out a track for that one day. What a peculiar piece of kit it is. Definte OSC territory but drums
Mac - dunno when I'll get around to a "release" as such as I do this for fun rather anything else. More recent stuff of mine can be picked up on Soundcloud which I find far better for quality - well, to a degree
Try http://soundcloud.com/mouxbar where you can here the extremely silly europumped "Broken Machine". It features a Speak & Spell and I thought it would turn out to be dark and nasty and it just ended up er, very silly.
Never mind, doh

James Otucson, I'm still waiting to hear from you re. what you want done about your 'awakened by cats' track. So gimme a shout, here, or by PM ... I'm happy to help sort out any prob you have.... even if its only to delete one of the two versions currently posted.

Wel, I think very few among us are getting rich with music, so it's the same for everybody, I guessslugfest99 wrote:I do this for fun rather anything else.

At the speed I work at, it won't suprise you that I've got quite a few tracks that I could pick fromMac of BIOnighT wrote:Wel, I think very few among us are getting rich with music, so it's the same for everybody, I guessslugfest99 wrote:I do this for fun rather anything else.Your tracks are fun and well made, so c'mon, go ahead and make an album!
...tempted...
...by the way folks, had a listen to all the entries again yesterday. Super entry field so far and some very fine stuff indeed. Voting is going to be very hard on this sort of standard.
Best of luck,

We could do as they do in pop music: get a bunch of screaming, adolescent girls decide who is the cutest and sexiest among us, and that's the winner regardless of the music he makes ;-Pslugfest99 wrote: ...by the way folks, had a listen to all the entries again yesterday. Instead of the One Synth Contest, maybe have the Odd Synth Contest: pair up one of the more unusual synths, such as Chimera or one of the Xoxos physically modelled synths, with a more routine but basic VA with the proviso that you have to have at least one instance of each (and audible).slugfest99 wrote: Gamma - Inspired by my own wordsI went off to have another play with the beastie again. It's certainly lovely, but could we do a whole track with it
IMHO, yes, but they're all going to sound the same - it's ability to make what I would call a bass/lead noise is very narrow indeed. And I'll repeat the drums issue...

I can't remember who suggested the sample-based one (MadPsyance?) but that is still interesting. Maybe pre-select a sample or small set of samples and stipulate that only Shortcircuit can be used. But any amount of mangling in Shortcircuit is fine.

I would definitely be willing to send a .wav file for a CD compilation. There's a 2nd piece, with the same dmin to fmin modulation. It's jokingly referred to as a piece in the key of 'e diminished.'
There are 2 Felix synths in the piece; one for the bass hand and one for the 'melody.'
Of the other, first piece; the .tuna file was lost, so no more .wav files can be rendered. ay yai yai
This 2nd one should be an improvement over the first, and specifically for purposes of contributing to the compilation CD.
The Felix synth is capable of a lot of varied sounds.
My favorite are the 2-octave and 1-octave sliders; the leftmost controls on the 'wave-type panel.'

I wish you would just get a few career-bound, bored 30 year old women to have a few cocktails while one of you guys plays downtempo jazz for us by the pool.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:We could do as they do in pop music: get a bunch of screaming, adolescent girls decide who is the cutest and sexiest among us, and that's the winner regardless of the music he makes ;-Pslugfest99 wrote: ...by the way folks, had a listen to all the entries again yesterday. Yeah, I figured it would still be in the spirit of "all from nothing" philosophy that fuels these OSCs. The fewer the samples, the greater the challenge. It could be called the "One Sample Challenge".Gamma-UT wrote: I can't remember who suggested the sample-based one (MadPsyance?) but that is still interesting. Haha. You'd submit a sample of a pencil sharpener and a vacuum cleaner and you'll get back everything from vacuum-cleaner-pencil-sharpener glitchnoise, to a full realistic orchestral piece.
