Patrick9, Toy Boy: LOUD! After the volume adjustment, this is quite endearing. The kazoo solo really takes this one over the top. It reminds me of being a freshman in high school, and looking at the junior and senior girls in a similar fashion.

An overall nice set of layered sounds, and you are quite right about the effect of the toy piano. Good build up although a bit more variation could have improved things.

Interesting take on the theme. This is truly made by the superb kajoo-ology section, complete with harmonies. There are some very strange combinations of instruments going on here. Nice!

Thanks! I have noticed that other people always think I need my vocals to be louder than I think I do. I think this might be inherent in the way we hear our own voice, because I have made the same comment about other people's vocal tracks multiple times. I will bring the vocals up.

Count me in the 'bring the vocals out' camp. Without the included lyrics, it would be tough to tell what you're saying. Knowing what you're saying though (reading as the song plays), this piece is wonderful. With its sense of childlike wonder, it totally befits a contest which requires a toy instrument.

Nice use of the Toy instrument, good pace for the spoken vocals. Original effect. It sounds like a phone-call from a submarine.

I used some weird settings on my "metalizer" (which is really just an oddly sweeping filter of some sort, I think) and a few other things.

Some more briefer thoughts...

patrick 9 : Production-wise this is excruciatingly loud, sounds over-compressed and is distorted. The tune manages to be catchy and irritating at the same time. I think the true essence and subtle beauty of the kazoo's broad range of sonic timbres is lost by applying too much reverb.

Chuck E Jesus - This is also annoyingly catchy but an obvious sense of fun is more evident and I find it kind of enduring in a weird way. I like the Jerry Lee Lewis overtones to the vocals.

Shrikant - Your trademark randomness is here (your entries always sound improvised to me) although this does sound sound somewhat more coherent. The mix seems a little off - The toy piano is too loud and the bass-saw too quiet.

milkshakeiii - I like the idea of the perpetually repeating vocals but I'm less keen on the composition backing them up. The 808 (?) clap is too simple.

Spirulence - Good production and a decent theme, though it is very short. Needs development and expanding into a longer piece.

Thomekk - You always produce something intriguing and interesting. Usually I'm gradually drawn into the tunes and nuances but I confess this one is leaving me a bit out in the cold.

Jerru - This invokes the theme for a comedy spy or detective film (Pink Panther or something along those lines). Perhaps a little too stripped down? - I'm missing something in the backing.

Knockman - A clear favourite for me. Fanatstic 60's pop song - caught the psychedelic feel perfectly with the composition and production. The organ solo is the conquering moment and the kazoo perfectly restrained (although see patrick 9 review above).

emerald tab - It's strange how jarring the toy piano can be especially when its playing a repetitive phrase as here. Everything else is all a bit too meandering and at the same time not connecting with the vox sample.

laguna rising - The mix is not doing it for me. The drums are too loud and horribly distorted. The over-driven guitar is also not the most pleasing tone either. There's some nice pad chord changes in here but they are mainly swamped in too many harsh cymbal crashes.

here are ten very short comments (in no particular order), i hope to post more (every entry?) before the end of the month,
offcourse english isn't my native language so there is nothing really interesting to read here...
anyway,


Laguna Rising: a bit too chaotic for me, drums are interesting but too distorted, definitely lots of things going on (probably too much..)
Oddbod; very hight quality, the mix/production is perfect, vocals are really good and the triphop beat is really tasty. congrats
nikp2000: some great elements, the atmosphere created is original, i'm not really sure if i like the whole piece but at least there are lots of things that i like in it.
Jenderton: a cool ambient track, there are some interesting things in it, but nothing that really catch the attention.
Farlukar: an original track, the first part is very good, and guitars blend perfectly in the piece (the only thing that i don't really like may be the drums)
Barnadine: nice song, well produced and well performed, as always.
Jerru: solid drums, great guitar playing, the song itself is very well structured with lots of interesting melodies.
offthewall: a very nice accoustic piece, with a sweet atmosphere, instruments are played with lots of skills.
knockman: excellent song! everything is great: the instrumentation, the vocal performance and the use of child instrument.
Emerald tablet: nice minimal track, almost ambient, a relaxing entry.

beanpole: a little sappy, but nice pop tune...

offthewall: really good, your new guit sounds nice, good flute playing too...

jenderton: nice sfx piece, i like how it moves into the more "musical" bit...

Echo Voodoo: tbh the shaker made it a hard listen for me, it didn't seem to fit the music...

mvrasseli: some interesting twists, but the sfx didn't do much for me...
