Seems a very interesting and flexible generative tool. I'll have a try (or more) Thanks for sharing.

@ ToneCarver.
Wouldn't Nova3 be a great app for the iPad so that you can control some synth's wireless while sitting on a couch? I for one would love to buy this
Madeleine
p.s. thanks for all the work you've put in and giving away your creation for free!

There is a new version of Nova3, version 0.7, that contains some bugfixes and some tweaks to handle host related timing issues. If you have seen missing notes, unexpected variation in the note lengths, or notes firing at the wrong times then you may see some improvement in this release.
The zip file is HERE - Nova3 Alpha07.
The changes are:
+ Misc bug fixes related to timing and host compatibility
+ bugfix: Note probability tilt only applied when probability < 1.0
+ bugfix: check bounds on rover nudge or drag

Have fun and Happy Holidays

Indeed a great tool. I do need some better visual output what directions the notes take. White on white? Nah don't look good. Different colors would help a lot. Buttons to clear humanize and randomize the field would be most helpful. How much will this beast cost once completed?

Sorry about the white on grey. I'll think about changing the color scheme in future releases.jobromedia wrote:Indeed a great tool. I do need some better visual output what directions the notes take. The buttons (circles) on the left side under the 'Clear' label clear rovers in a variety of ways.
The Human knob adds humanization, up to 15 milliseconds, to each output note.
There is no randomization control, per se, but you can increase random timey wimey wibbly wobbly behavior by increasing the Wrap (to allow rovers to pass through walls and wrap around to the other side instead of bouncing), by increasing the Wobble (to let rovers migrate into neighbor cells instead of traveling in straight lines), by adding obstacles with random outcomes (like the wormhole, spin, etc), by decreasing note probability to suppress some notes randomly, and by setting some obstacles and decreasing obstacle probability so that the obstacles randomly affect rovers.
Interesting idea to add a control that sprays out a random field though. I'll have to consider adding something like that.
Sure, the (unlabeled, sorry) green triangle off to the right of the Mute label brings up a file explorer that lets you select and load a new scale file. Nova3 ships with many different scales and you can add your own too. See the "Scales' section in the readme file for a description of the scale file format.jobromedia wrote:Is it possible to alter the scales as well?

Just a little BUMPAGE ~ since sequencers are all the rage today.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil
