Regarding the MPC grooves, there are some available in Presonus' website though I don't know how these integrate yet, I am guessing they are presets, I don't get my box until tomorrow but I'm hoping at least one of those things is checked off that list of yours
I have my own list as well, but I took the leap because it seemed from other Reaper users that midi isn't the biggest priority for that platform so it seemed worth the risk, and I do have Reaper updates through 5.99, plus the cost of upgrading that isn't high. I could always sell S1 if it doesn't work out.

Then you should be pretty happy because half of your short todo list is already there and has been since V1 (except for grooves) I think.5Lives wrote:
- select all notes of a pitch

- move selection down to next track, trim start, trim end, etc.
As you can see, not very much at all,
CTL Click and or CTL+ALT+Click (multiple regions) to select all notes of a pitch in the piano roll.
Log into the Exchange and you'll see MPC grooves and some others, tiny kb sized downloads that auto-install.
Type "Range" into the action list search box and you'll see various bind-able actions for moving and sizing selection ranges.
Just saying...

Wow - this is great! Yes, I am pretty happy now
One thing though - where is the action list search box? Is that part of the new macros features?
Another thing I noticed - Export Stems doesn't have a normalize option?

Keyboard shortcut / command list. Look in the menu Studio One | Keyboard Shortcuts. Search box is at the top of the dialog.5Lives wrote: where is the action list search box? Is that part of the new macros features?
True. Not sure why you'd do that (gain is likely the easiest thing to change in any audio editor) but yeah, there's no normalize for exports.Another thing I noticed - Export Stems doesn't have a normalize option?

So I finally got Professional installed via the DVDs, but I'm not really crazy about a lot of the content. Is there a way to uninstall some of it through the S1 interface, I don't want to screw up the app's awareness for updates etc. Thanks!

Should be studio one options, locations, soundsets and remove. May be different with the dvds though.

Thanks, though that doesn't give the selective option I was hoping for, just basically all soundsets.musikmachine wrote:Should be studio one options, locations, soundsets and remove. May be different with the dvds though.
On another note, it seems the longer a project is open, the more memory it uses, almost like there is a memory leak. I am wondering if this has anything to do with using the auto-save. Should I try turning that off? This is one area Reaper definitely has one up on Studio One from my experience, resource-wise Reaper seems much more efficient. What user-selectable options can I eneable/disable to get the most efficiency out of S1? Is having a rewire slave load at startup eating into any resources (I will uninstall Live Lite 8 if this is the case since I don't use it).

Well it is actually pretty easy to uninstall:
1. Open browser
2. Click Sounds
3. Right-click whatever soundset you don't want
4. Select 'Uninstall'.
So that wan't too hard and saved a few gigs of space.

I wouldn't toss it all unless you don't want any part of any of it... a particular factory soundset. If there are a few things in some of them that you actually might want to use, drag them out from the various soundsets, bounce them, and repackage them together into a new more universally useful soundset, then delete the originals.
There are (for example) some good kick drum samples in some of those loops that you can slice out and pack into new soundsets.
As relates to user created soundsets, those are just simple zip packages, you can open / extract those directly in the file system and just pull out the stuff you actually may use, and repackage them into a new soundset.
I think the Soundset builder is even in Artist now.
Anyway, handy tool. Load up a bunch of rips of commercial songs, range select some kicks and make a soundset of say... every kick drum from all of your Eminem CD's.

Yeah I don't have a single Eminem CD
really, for what I do I don't go searching for kick drums really, so I removed most of the loops, kept the Presence presets and the reverb impulses etc. Even a lot of that probably will never be touched let alone used. I wasn't very impressed by most of it but then I have Diva, UA1, Trilian etc. for synth sounds so it isn't really so necessary. Plus I have a 4GB RAM cap on this machines and I'm finding it best to avoid samplers as much as possible.
I am still curious about unnecessary Rewire slaves. I think I'll remove Live anyhow, it isn't really functional on my system for whatever reason. Not to mention Reason 3 never gets opened anymore. It does seem (at least psychologically) that turning off auto-save helped with memory, but I don't really know if that is the case. It could save me at some point but I never use it in any other app so I don't see why I should start relying on it in Studio One.

What kind of music do you create? I only ask out of curiosity.
Much success to you Braj. May the Gods of hit songwriting shine brightly (and not piss) on you.

I see you're a harsh self-critic.
Many musicans are it seems. Sounds good to me. Eastern Indian flavorisms?
Song number 4 is very relaxing, soothing. I just happen to be laying prone typing on the iPad, I like it. Kinda sorta New Age, the kind of music I like to listen to when I wanna just lay back and shut out the world.
Thanks for sharing.
