Ahh thats ok then, I like both of them, especially the old Mould (long time Husker Du fan). Makes a change from Peter fackin Gabriel anyway, which is what people say about the singing me more laidback stuff.

Thanks Mully, I have heard the Eels and I quite like them. As a matter of fact, I remember many years ago hearing "Hello Cruel World" by frontman E (another person from Virginia) and thinking it had to be one of the best songs of that year ('92?). Ah, so long ago... (not bad at all)

And thanks Garret for the positive feedback on my vocals. I still cringe when I hear them but... I don't know, we can't all be perfect. That's not the point anyway. I think I'm doomed to lo-fi status. No glamour for me. But that's OK, I have good company. In lo-fi heaven, the parties are better, the people are cooler, there's always beer in the fridge, smoking isn't bad for you and talent is as ambiguous as the meaning of dreams.

(Man, what's up with the KvR server? it seems to be down a quarter of the time... Is this just a side-effect of free service? I'm not complaining, I'm just wonderin')

Oh and Donks, Didja ever listen to Baby Bird? I don't know what people think of him in your neck of the woods, but I always thought he was an interesting fellow. I wouldn't say you sound quite like him, (and I doubt you're as moody) but you seem to have that kind of can-do-anything approach to music and it reminds me of him. That's a compliment whether you like it or not.

What I meant to say was smoking isn't bad for anyone, doesn't profit irresponsible multinational corporations nor make your breath, cloths or atmosphere smell like an ashtray. It's just like it used to be - or never was. I confess that I basically quit smoking several years ago, but I've always enjoyed the occasional social cigarette.

Utm- Baby bird was from Sheffield, about 30 miles south of here, I suppose thats local really. Always quite liked what I heard by him too.

as is my usual style I haven't been able to keep up with the last 11 pages so I'm just going to butt in with a few thoughts on the tracks so far.
Haven't decided whether to submit this month or not, but we'll see.
I dont think i'll be making any decisions on Friday 13th!

tristeza - Love Her - weird!! it gives me the impression of someone's mind being blown...good vibes!!!

donkey - nobody does it better

utm - sounds really smooth. excuse my ignorance but this is a cover right?! were the drums loops or programs - they sound v fresh.

normal - soothing ambience, with the odd nice reverse fx in there, v mellow.

duncanparsons - i was quite interested to hear this, being a fan of that sort of thing.
I thought that the clav and the vocal effects together was reminiscent of stevie wonder rather than the JB's. Quality keys too.
It all sounded a bit thin though. Maybe its my ears getting thin.

Sepherito - woah hello - who are you? South Africa and the blues? both things I love. Your track truncated when I downloaded it. On second attempt
it worked fine. Nice and smooth sound with an interesting structure - whats your kit? virtual stuff or do you record a lot live?

Wopelkaladdin - good work feller - wasnt too sure about the beat at first but the double tracked vocals rule! i'm impressed! (not that that means anything!!)

Vitamin D - i dont like trance but that might be because I am a spoilsport because I cant do it. But you can

Digital Stasis - took a couple of listens, i couldnt get my head round it. but its interesting in a early DJ Vadim sort of way. technically rather excellent though.
does that sound bad? sorry ...

lunarsounddesign - your description helped to sethe scene very well. impressive if it was for a movie score!

kr0kz - a great build on this track, withthe arpeg bubbling under for a while there not sure wht impOSCar is though. thats me being ignorant I'll look it up.
good FM sounding lead, although FM sounds always sound 80's to me. I guess thats the idea?!

garret - like someone crossed Pavement with Ben Folds Five. this sounds really fresh - i like the mellotron flute sounds too. lovely.
i reckon that could be in my final list..

ixox - hello! wow. I thought you said you couldn't sing? I think you should be doing more with your composition talents my man.

mystahr - ooh i liked the first noises. everyone knows I like the odd 'blapp' sound but the 'grawwwww' sound is pretty cool too.
hectic beats what BPM is that?!

offissapup - OK how did you do that?! Heard of Kid606? it sounds like you are he. gwf! By the way I wasnt bored at all. far from it.

ian web - i hope you dont mindme saying but it reminded me of the opening scene of a sonic the hedgehog game. With an oriental twist.
but it actually gets quite moving at the end.

smart - another clav. quite lo-fi - is that the intention? also reminds me of computer games but the beat helps counteract that quite nicely.

sleekmonth - you are right, proper 70's tone with the pedal steel in there. quality. TOP smooth production too. very pro sounding.
the voice reminds me in passing of elvis costello. hope thats not too bad...

ah beardedone - the old jazz programming. its kind of simultaneously beyond my intellectual capacity and also very groovy.
i woldnt know how to start doing something like this so top marks. and it sounds pretty pro too.

plunge - seems v quiet mix but i like the lead sound!! very Sly and the Family Stone i reckon. what is it?

rsmus7 - i cant knock this at all - well made, good choice of instruments, subtle programming too.

multree - lovely. although i would say, for my tastes, the voice is overpowering the rest of the mix a bit.

shane sanders - crazy scifi soundtrack styling! i think its amazingly put together, again probably a bit above my limited brain capacity but it had me listeniing right to the end to see what happened next...

andreas erhardt - sounded to me like a harpsichord with loads of spring reverb! really dramatic peice with the subtle pads and strings moving things around a little.

anakha - this really reminded me of a moshing Ozric tentacles mix, did you play the lead? quality! Drunkit from hell programmed or loops?

godfather - i know these samples

feirce mate - made me want to shout a lot , a good sign of quality rocking -

although i did need to sit down with a cup of tea afterward.
was that you on the lead?! wow.
