...or not. A company like KORG is only going to commit time to further development if the return justifies it. Let's face it, they didn't even bother with their VST versions for very long in the end.
Amazingly, they still make a nice profit from hardware... remember, that stuff that Reason made obsolete all those years ago...? Strange.

It is harder to put an audio in on a polyphonic synth, whether it is analog or digital. My physical Polysix has an FM input for the filters, but no other inputs. My physical Polysix also has the circuit board that was eaten away by the poorly located battery, but that is another story. Anyway, an audio in for a poly synth would need to deal with the voice allocation issue, or be fed into all voices at once.SWallace wrote:Wish the Polysix had Audio In. Or you know... pass audio through just the filter.valhallasound wrote:It is harder to put an audio in on a polyphonic synth, whether it is analog or digital. edit: As silly as this may sound, that is simply what a lot of people have been asking for in the PH chat/forum.

6 filters, followed by 6 VCAs. Each filter has its own envelope. Put the sound through 1 filter, and it will only play for every 6th note played on the keyboard.Robert Randolph wrote:Or you know... pass audio through just the filter.valhallasound wrote:It is harder to put an audio in on a polyphonic synth, whether it is analog or digital. The effects would have been easier, as this is a single board, that processes the summed output of all the synth voices. Some people have modified their physical Polysixes to run things through the effects board. Others have taken the effects boards out of their Polysixes, as, well, Polysixes break.

There isn't just "a" filter in a polyphonic synth. A polyphonic synth has a filter for each voice (w. exception for PolyMoog).Robert Randolph wrote: Or you know... pass audio through just the filter.

In fact a polyphonic synth is like having X amount of mono synths (where X is the amount of voices). So in a 6 voice synth like Polysix there's actually 6 oscillators, 6 sub-oscillators, 6 envelopes, 6 filters, 6 VCA's etc. And then there's a voice allocating system that allows you to play the voices differently (or stacked, in unison).
So like Sean said, it's harder to put audio in on a polyphonic synth.

I was simply 'translating' what most people who bring this up have been asking for.

I don't know. It sounds expressive enough but somehow doesn't sound like a real piano. It has a slight synthetic quality to it. Not saying that's a bad thing. But it's still there.eXode wrote:I know what some of you think about Radical Piano but I think that this guy does it justice.
I tried it out but eventually bought Reason Pianos. I'm glad I did. RP sounds like a really nice real piano.

"slight synthetic quality"? I'd love for you to do a blindtest. It's so easy to say that when you KNOW you can't be wrong.

Well I guess it's purely subjective. But I waited until Radical Piano was out and tried it for quite a few hours and although I loved it's expressiveness. I just couldn't get it to sound like a real piano.Crackbaby wrote:"slight synthetic quality"? I'd love for you to do a blindtest. It's so easy to say that when you KNOW you can't be wrong.
I'm not knocking it. I think it sounds great. But when I loaded Reason Pianos. I instantly got that feeling that I was playing a real piano. I use a 88 piano weighted keyboard and I felt right at home. I never got that feeling when I played Radical Piano.

That was exactly my reaction. It ought to be a requirement on Re developers to take greater advantage of the point of the Reason rack, so they don't end up with stuff that you might as well have just rewired to a vst host for.Crackbaby wrote:39€ for the poly seems like a decent price ... but ... look at the back of it ......... eh. Sort of missing the rack point of it, doesn't it.

I think that most people who trash Radical piano..just didn't have any creative idea on how to use this instrument.eXode wrote:I know what some of you think about Radical Piano but I think that this guy does it justice.
And by the way, people need to understand the stuff that they trying to buy ! Radical Piano is not like the other Reason Pianos ! If you where expecting the same old Piano sounds that you are used to, then you missed the point!
This is what PROPELLERHEAD wanted Radical Piano to do , From there website :
(I underlined the main parts of there description of Radical Piano)
"The premise is simple. The results are stunning. We'll give you three basic pianos paired with the technology to make an infinite number of your own. Based on a custom blend between sampling technology and physical modeling algorithms, Radical Piano affords songwriters, producers, and sound designers an unprecedented level of control to craft a realistic piano that is 100% unique."
I you don't know how to recreate certain types of Piano there are from scratch.... then this instrument is not for you !! That doesn't mean that it sucks.

Easy solution.. you have it already for VST ?..Then don't buy it.They have it for VST and it has a grand total of Zero CV in/out .Jace-BeOS wrote:That was exactly my reaction. I own Zero Vst plugins,so It's a none issue for me.
Also not enough CV ? put it in a Combinator it'll give you 6 More CV IN/OUT.

Seriously ?headquest wrote: Amazingly, they still make a nice profit from hardware... remember, that stuff that Reason made obsolete all those years ago...? Strange.
I guess hardware synths often sell in higher numbers than software synths still.
