Bought it, soundwise Im blown away by the quality of the effects and filters and it took all of 5-10 minutes to make 2 leads and 2 pads in the presets which sound amazing and its the third time I tried it because I got that many from the end of world sale. Have to say its taken the place of zeta 2 and will becoming a main part of my future sounds, the bells and metallic tones this synth kicks out are among some of the best Ive heard to date. Brilliant again and for 80 euro in the sale, now thats what I call a great service, cheers to the maker of Diversion for such a great synth and the free effects with computer music are another set of FX in a league of their own. Nice

I would have purchased the Windows version on sale had I known the Mac version was a free cross-grade and would be done so soon.X2 wrote:Bought it, soundwise Im blown away by the quality of the effects and filters and it took all of 5-10 minutes to make 2 leads and 2 pads in the presets which sound amazing and its the third time I tried it because I got that many from the end of world sale. Still looks to be worth the purchase of course.

We were talking a bit with him about sound design not a long ago. He is working on Mac and that's cool he can check the plugin soon.ZenPunkHippy wrote:It was Col (biomechanoid) who prompted me to try Diversion today - he is also looking forward to the Mac version
Don't worry about that. We will launch the same sale on Mac version release.JoeCat wrote:I would have purchased the Windows version on sale had I known the Mac version was a free cross-grade and would be done so soon
And thanks guys for kind words.

No no no no, I just held off buying it in the sale because there's no Mac version. Now I have to get it once it's released.sches wrote:Don't worry about that. We will launch the same sale on Mac version release.

Serious though, great to hear, looking forward to demo it!

Your problem isn't your low wage, it's your inflated ego and your myopic view of the world. "My job is definitely harder than that of a coder..." Poppycock. How can you know? If it's so easy, why don't you do it? Perhaps you spent too much time looking lovingly at your reflection in a pool of water? Don't fall in!Darkest wrote:Based on the comparison to my job.zerocrossing wrote:Based on what? Have you ever developed a software instrument?Darkest wrote:
And even then, I think they're over-priced, as is pretty much all music software.
I am a trained horticulturalist. It took me several years, lots of reading and mucho hard graft out in the real world.
I can expect an average wage of approximately £20k per year.
C++ can be learnt in under a year, though I imagine it takes longer than that to get good, however, it's an indoor occupation and i'm not even sure Diversion was coded in C++. It may even be a hobbyist, nobody has answered my original question.
My job is definitely harder than that of a coder and infinitely more difficult than that of a synthmaker/synthedit hobbyist.
Going on sales of 1000 units at $169 with no overheads along the lines of manufacturing/transport etc. This item will raise $169000. It's quite likely that it will sell far more than that.
I have many overheads and my hands get cold in the winter months. Days are long in the summer and I am physically tired at the end of each day.
So yes, i'll stick to my guns. Software is hugely over-priced.

All your "precious" hardware would be useless without software. And what you paid for involves basically the same kind of work putted in something like Diversion. Once programmed, the pieces are sent to some production line in China and produced for peanuts. So, you are paying basically for R&D.Darkest wrote:
Were it coded purely in C++ and it was 40 hours + per week's work for an entire year, I would still only want to pay max $80 for it. Think about it, that's a big income for what is a relatively simple job.
If it's a synthedit creation, then i'd price it much lower, somewhere around $20. Remember, there's been ZERO outlay. I paid for all the hardware, including the bits that are responsible for sound quality.
As I've already said, music software is hugely over-priced and I mean hugely, so your reckoning that it's pitched fairly is not agreeable to me in the slightest.
And we certainly shouldn't be encouraging greedy prices for doing very little.

This guy is paying daily for who he is. And that's below cost.

If you're not happy with the software then go and just leave us alone, everybody will be happy when you'll leave!
