I uploaded presets in the KVR Download Section which came from my TX7 and works 100% like the original.

I agree, imagine it with ArtVera or LimeFlavour designed skins on it:BlackWinny wrote: With a totally reworked GUI it would be a killer!

Whoa. I just discovered the "Cart" button with all those extra banks. Awesome.
Where are banks stored on the Mac? And is it possible to import and entire directory of sysex. files rather than just single presets?

Ok so we put this zip file of sysex files in the VST folder? And then what, this will now be browsable via the Cart button? So what happens with the other presets in there? We have to merge them first? Where do I find the factory files?eidenk wrote:Echoes in the Attic wrote:Whoa. I just discovered the "Cart" button with all those extra banks. Awesome.

Yes you can then browse them with the Cart button and each sysex file is a full bank so all presets get replaced. You find them using google of course, there are thousands out there.

I appreciate the help but I am hesitant to try without first knowing where the existing presets are and whether they are permanently replaced or what. I've got a folder of sysex files which I'd like to check out but don't want to lose the presets that come with it. Does it revert next time it's loaded? Where are the factory presets stored on disk for mac? Anybody know?

The presets will reload when you next open your DAW / Dexed. Nothing is deleted, anything you add to the zip folder will be added / updated to the Cart browser tab, you will only lose patches if you actually delete them yourself.
As for Mac and where the plugins are stored (at a guess) I would say they would be stored in the same location that you have placed the Dexed plugin.

Nope, nothing there. Perhaps they are actually embedded in the plug-in file itself.Maomoondog wrote: As for Mac and where the plugins are stored (at a guess) I would say they would be stored in the same location that you have placed the Dexed plugin.

When Dexed is built from source, that zip file (https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed/blob/m ... in_pgm.zip) gets embedded into the VST executable.
So, adding the extra Dexed_cart.zip with the .dll simply adds the content to the contextual [CART] menu when it is pressed. Nothing gets deleted or changed.

The more I play around with this, the more I find to be fascinated with. Small minds, they say. I figured that the only virtual FM solution I'd be happy with would've been VOPM, but I'm reconsidering that now.
Maybe slightly off-topic since this is the instruments subforum, but has any really experimented with stacking different FM VSTis on top of each other? It's not like VA synths where the sound is a bit more mobile, but I'm curious if tiny little differences in the algorithms that various FM synths use will make them sound different in a number of tiny ways.
