I started this cool sequence in live yesterday, added a bunch of instances to test it and it was fine. Now, it's bringing live it IT'S knees.

You mean the Studio One DAW? It works on mine.

You're greedy because you are complaining that your present is only worth $25 and you feel entitled for a present worth $50.
I did feel entitled for a present worth $50 - as stated in their promo. What, exactly, do you not comprehend about false advertising?

I have no interest in further discussing this, so this is my last comment about it. I've already stated that the coupon is worth $50 if you use it accordingly, just not the way you see fit. IANAL, so it's not on me to decide if this falls under false advertising. Intuitively, I don't think so, but what do I know. Everybody feel free to get bent out of shape over it. It's just that I'm somewhat disappointed by how people react.

Waves Universe has an offer that is almost as good as what you are demanding, so in the end everybody should be happy, right? At $55, I might pick it up myself. I liked the presets of the demo version more than those of Serum, so I might get Codex just for the presets and Serum later this month.

I a/b'd the both of them for a long time and I was unable to get Serum to sound nearly as rich in terms of it's filters. Codex sounds like a hybrid wavetable synth with analog filters, Serum, while more capable in most ways, sounds purely software. Whether or not you like one or the other, or like me, both, is a matter of opinion, but I bet I use Codex a lot more and Serum as more of a special "spice" only used from time to time, kind of like I use Massive.

This.

The reaction to Codex feels to me like the initial mismeasure of Element which, eventually, yielded to an appreciation for just how good that synth's oscillators actually sound when used within its purview.

To me, listening to tracks and demo, Codex is obviously going for a Waldorf PPG, deep retro throwback sound and I love that, because it adds something different to the scene that diverges from the dominant Massive->Reaktor->Razor->Serum trajectory. (I mean, how many different ways can you do 'bawrGarGarGarGarG' with every cycle's transient touching your eardrums like a pin? This stuff's already cliché and not getting less so. The "precise" sound will fade away in favor of interesting sound, again.)

Also, good on Waves Universe for stepping in and basically saving Waves' public tuchus on this voucher misunderstanding by allowing people to get what they expected by using it.

[UPDATE:
Well, after my above supportive impression of Codex, i have to withdraw it. Codex apparently won't work, and isn't supported to work, in DP. I asked for and received a prompt and courteous refund from Waves Universe.

I usually like Waves' stuff but, man, this is a serious oversight. What a shame.

Looks like another Serum user is born (unless some other next gen wavetabler comes out and/or Ingo spills the beans on what he's beta testing before the promo period ends)...]

It doesn't spike around? Holy crap, mine (a 4770) it's worse than anything, really bad.

All of the sudden it works fine again in live :? I thought these days were behind me 5 years ago :x

Well, I can't talk because I bought it at wavesuniverse, but it was most certainly deceptive.

If you all want to split hair, this was the announcement:

Notice the sentence in brackets, please.
Voucher information will be given during the live broadcast.

For me this also clearly indicates that the terms and conditions will be given at a later point, which they did.
And, as others have pointed out, the voucher WAS worth 50$, just not for all products.

Or did somebody really expect Waves to pay them 1$ if they "purchase" a 49$ plug-in with the voucher?
Come on, man.
Such vouchers always have some conditions, you will know that if you have ever seen one in your life.

If they had given out the appropriate information about the voucher, fewer people would have attended the worthless "Everything Audio" event. If we add up the opportunity cost of being suckered into listening to Dave Aude argue with JJP about the value of interns, I'd say we could be looking at at least a billion dollars in time and life-force lost. I feel like I'm on the low side with this estimate, although I admit to feeling lobotomized by the live event so not sure if I can trust my brainz right now.

Seriously though, the voucher offer was misleading.

Oh snap! Seriously, what I took from it was HOW to get your coupon would be the "detail"

It's not really splitting hairs. They should have been forthright that it wasn't going to be for everything. AGAIN, they are forgiven, and I got a great price at WU but it's sneaky, it's not........can I say it.........kosher? :hihi:

Exactly, that's why they didn't do it beforehand.
Also common practice of companies, and not too hard to figure out.

Forgiven, but not forgotten, I guess :hihi:
Anyway, have fun with the new synth :)

I am really liking this synth. Unreal you can get something like this for around $50 now!

Wow, that seems crazy! I can't believe they don't support DP.

What is DP (other than my initials)?

RE: voucher. Waves vouchers are always scaled like this. Be aware that this is something they do so the next time you see a big dollar amount you don't get excited too soon.

I truly love this synth, BTW. It has an amazing retro/modern hybrid quality to it that is unlike most other synths I've owned or tried. Waves hit one out of the park.

I also bought Serum because at the reduced price I felt it had a feature set that was too good to pass up. I wasn't expecting a similar synth for 40% of the price to come along a few days later but hey...

Serum has an identity all its own and isn't like Massive or Codex. I have them all and I'll use all of them regularly.
