I’m not a Logic user, but I hope for all of you Logic-Alchemy users that Apple keeps updating Alchemy with true great features, not just maintaining it. Alchemy is one amazing synth, would be a shame to freeze it like that in time and stop improving it.
i'm pretty hopeful there will be more development and improvements. after all, they have ben as well as the software. i can easily imagine apple just wanting it out there, as soon as possible, with the intention of having ben & co charged with the duty of ongoing updates
Alchemy available in logic now

well i wasn't as heavily invested in alchemy, so there was not so much time spent hoping for me. but i can't imagine what else he'd be doing there if it weren't for the ongoing development of alchemy 2, albeit with the possibility of more investment, a bigger team, and stricter deadlinesSampleconstruct wrote:More hope after many years of hoping, sure, I am not a pessimist but fortunately we have some alternatives.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Sampleconstruct wrote:Well, testing the “new“ old Alchemy and sharing my experiences is not an act of altruism, I had totally written off Alchemy as a sound development platform, now it reappeared but I am so underwhelmed as nothing has changed really. The granular engine is still completely underwhelming. Alchemy still seems like a "jack-of-all-trades, master of none" affair. Why a VA engine in a sample manipulation instrument? If you want good granular you'd still need to go with Halion/Padshop or Machfive 3. Even Granite or The Mangle are superior. If you want good spectral stuff, you're probably better off with Iris.
This isn't to say that you can't get good sounds out of Alchemy but I don't think it makes Logic suddenly a "must buy". If this really is V2 redone as a Logic exclusive, I can't see what some people were on about it being such an awesome upgrade.
Still, as a free add-on, I'll take it.

Well, i saw you mean crosfade loop.... yeah.... funny that even some of the cheapest synths can do this......Cinebient wrote:But you can crossfade in the keymap editor....
But in terms of modulation sources Alchemy is great (still not the king). Most other synths are very limited to just a few LFO and MSEG's.

I got the Mainstage update on my old MacPro yesterday and too am under the impression that several of the pro features have been cut out - I haven't dug too deep yet though. While I still would prefer to have the full uncrippled Alchemy 2 running on my PC, I no longer envy the mac users much - this isn't too much of an upgrade compared to Alchemy 1 and in some areas it's a downgrade.Gamma-UT wrote:That's a pain, given that Alchemy was one of the synths that had a readymade setup for the Eigenharp.thetechnobear wrote:no polyAT any more ... thats a step backwards![]()
and they have not taken the opportunity to include either MPE or Midi mono mode.
I'll be able to use it with Mainstage via rtpmidi from Bitwig on my PC if need should be, not sure if it would be worth the hassle.
As far as I'm concerned RIP Camel Audio.
Alchemy 1 will run as long as it will run.
Something new will come up sooner or later that will surpass it...
Peace, over and out
Cheers,
Tom

Some windows user spent alot of cash on Alchemy + SPs, only for them to sell it to Apple who will not continue the support for ANY of the old customers(as I wasn't told otherwise). I am glad I sold the f*&&!ng thing in time. Keeping us original customers in the dark like that was a joke, NDA B^&&(%$s!!! It was my fave softsynth at the time...I would now think twice about ever laying out that sort of cash on a single VST if they(a developer) can behave like that, where are the customers rights in all this. If a Dev passes away or becomes ill or retires that is understandable, but if a licensed software is sold then the customers should be transfered to the new company as well. It has made me think twice about laying down cash on software, wasn't happy about the situation at all, Rant over...

Hehe, maybe they just made an hide and seek fun and all the missing features are hidden.Sampleconstruct wrote:True, I was wrong, well at least a tiny bit of joy...Cinebient wrote:Indeed.... you can make crossfade loops inside the sampler!
I always found Alchemy not really a joy to program compared to other synths and this doesn't change that much.
Was i expecting more here..... yes but i was dissapointed too by all the other updates from my other huge synths.
In reality THE one tools will never exist of course.
Good thing it is easy with stack tracks to create and save a whole bunch of tools as one patch/instrument.
No layering.... no good sounds

The problem was that the loop markers are not marked start/end, just two handles in the middle of nowhere, so after trying around I got the x-fade looping to work, what a revelation in 2015.Sampleconstruct wrote:But it doesn't seem to work, I can't get it to produce a crossfade loop, RTFM.Sampleconstruct wrote:True, I was wrong, well at least a tiny bit of joy...Cinebient wrote:Indeed.... you can make crossfade loops inside the sampler!
