I've just got back from a music session at my local and listened to GLOOPER and WOPELKA. Yeah!

Ben - You've definitely got the 'BIG' sound you were after. It's tight, sophisticated and beautifully produced.

Wopelka - This is so evocative. I can see the scene as I listen to the music.

You're probably thinking of Markleford's playlist... the tracks actually stream from the original sites, but it works the same...

hey glooper about your track...ur idea is definatelly cool! the tears for fears like vocal part most certainly helps the song a lot...the only thing u did kinda wrong was the drum pattern. i think u should have pumped up the volume a little more....u also needed HARDER kick and snare to blast ur audience off its feet...u may also check out a little vst called BAXXPANDER to give ur kicks and snares tremendous punch and maybe a little distorsion for dynamics or something.anyway i think u should have worked on it a little more...also on the eq-ing and mastering man...ur high shelf is almost unused,u filled ur headroom with low frequencies which is not such a good thing.
hope u find the stuff i said usefull coz thats the way it was intended

I can't escape sounding like Tears for Fears!... ahhhh... god help me!

I'll give the VST you've suggested a try. I'm still learning a lot on how to program drums (and everything else to be honest!) so advice like this is priceless. I'm getting there slowly but have a long way to go yet!

Hmm.. really?, I was worried I'd killed off too much bass during mastering!

Thank you.... I'll keep trying! This song was very ambituous and it stretched my abilities (probably too much so) . But I learnt a lot from doing it and have gained some more skills in the process, which to me is the most important thing.

hey glooper maybe i could help u out with a harder drum pattern and maybe clean ur sound up a little...all u need to do is export each instrument individually without any FX on at about -6db or so

maybe i could remix or somtn if u can export to midi like reason does...it would be nice to have a remix in here wouldn't it?

Okay... that would be great. . It will be interesting to hear and compare someone else's mix. I'm at work at the moment so can't sort out any files today. What sequencer do you use to mix?. if you use Cubase I could upload the whole project zipped up to my server? otherwise I'll just create midi files and wav's for you this weekend (probably sunday)?

This month's topic was a really great idea. Judging from the number of entries so far I'm not the only one thinking so. I really enjoy listening to the entries.

There is only one PROBLEM so far.

After 34 entries I can not remember every story posted with each song

When I listen to the entries each time I can not for the sake of good governence in Africa remember the stories posted with the entries in the submission post. Does anybody have any solution to this problem? It would have been nice if Windows media player supported the display of the story while playing back.

Somebody, I think it was ThomasC, managed to get a picture in his mp3 the first time I listened to it, but on the 2nd listen even that was gone again and I can not get the picture back.

It's part of the ID3 tag thingy. I added using ITunes. pretty neat though.
