What I like about freestyle is its ease of use, nice plugin browsing, and the snapshot feature is very handy, is like saving presets on steroids.

just getting back into MUX, i was actually surprised to see how nice its own preset browsing is (especially for stuff like SynthEdit creations that don't have their own preset browser). are snapshots just "Freestyle presets" or what? (i'll look into it, though i un-installed the Freestyle demo. must have taken the PDF manual with it.) if so, pretty sure MUX has it's own "save state" presets as well.

... For example saving snapshots for softube modular is very useful in my setup, it compensates the lack of internal preset browser in Modular ...

ahh, nice to hear that the snapshot feature has an added value for you. that's pretty cool. probably a good thing to suggest to other Softube Modular users.

Just starting the actual beta-demo (cause without midi its useless for me). First try with standalone:

Sundog (produces midi notes)-loop midi-Freestyle with: Bluearp (midi arp)-modelonia

loop midi is chosen as midi input

Result: no sound, just crash (two times, and its not that funny making it all again in demo mode)

Not sure that I configure evrything right (I mean the "manual" looks like it should be self explanatory or needs a REAL manual....) but no matter what it should not just crash...

Now I will try inside mulab again and see if that changes something and I will at least hear something, at the moment, hooray, it is scanning the vst directory AGAIN (have done that for the standalone before....)

Hope it will work at least to just be able to try IF it works....

A snapshot saves the actual state of your Freestyle project, even if you change/add vsts. You can change from one snapshot to another by program bank changes.

For example I could have one midi track in ableton ready for sequencing or playing different synths/effects combinations. Using silent clips for program change I can easily change sounds in the same midi track, always with te same freestyle instance.

This is specially valuable if you have more than one daw, I can save and load my synth/effect chains in any daw I use via freestyle, and it is very easy and fast to setup.

I was thinking in purchasing something like Falcon, but now I see Freestyle as a workstation too, where I can combine all the synths, samplers and effects I have. Now it lacks sequencing and modulation, but it will be added in the near future.

i was pretty set on buying this a while back, but i'm having a hard time trying to see what this gives me that i don't already have (plus much more) with MUX. anyone using that and can tell me what i'm not seeing?

well multiple parameters assignment to just one single knob is quite a unique feature at the moment.

?? MUX can do that as well, and with custom parameter ranges (like Freestyle). i can also do most of this with Ableton's instrument racks.

Freestyle is v1.0953 (fixed)

I'm happy with Freestyle and the swift development so far. I can only imagine what ver 7 will be like.

well, this wasn't my intention, but yeah... not seeing much advantage, and i don't really like the look/feel of working with Freestyle (not 100% happy with MUX either, to be honest). will definitely keep an eye on it as it progresses though, i was pretty excited to see a new "modular plug-in environment" on the market. love this sort of thing, at least in concept. i actually just bought the NI Kore 2 software, of all things.

i do think that the snapshot feature is a bit unique (??), but not something that i think i really "need".

Thanks for the update today, it's growing fast

1) I had to activate the updated plugin again (was activated before), by intention?
2) Win10x86&x64 still crashing with IRCAM Flux Trax SF v3 (Trax Tr v3, Trax CS v3, IRCAM Flux plugs working)
3) I don't understand "Thumbnails now update in real-time in background when full editor is open.", I still have erroneous thumbnails @ MacOS (jamstix3) & Win (Cycle), and thumbnails don't update (for example absynth, switching from browse panel (thumbnailed) to perform panel (thumbnail won't update)
Please elaborate on this feature.

And now that I can start to explore (or lets better say scratch the survace) this absolutely marvellous gem

I can only say that I am absolutely overwhelmed by the possibilities imaginable with this....

And updates and fixes coming in no time, marvellous support (even for some impatient guys who wont even take the time to study the small documentation ).

This is far more then I expected when (after long hesitation) I jumped on the last deal.

Not sure what I'm missing here. I properly assign a target parameter to a macro control. The name of the VST parameter is under the assigned macro. I make sure it is not in learning mode once this is complete. If I move the macro (with the mouse) it does not affect the assigned parameter on the VST, yet if I move the parameter (with the mouse) on the VST the macro moves/mirrors as it should. For whatever reason it is working from VST ---> Macro, but not Macro ---> VST.

This is happening in both the VST version in a daw and in standalone.

pls make it an option to use qwerty keyboard as midi input.

use case: i'm on the road with just a laptop + headphones and have half an hour free time (too little to work on anything complex) and I know I could knock out a few decent patches in that time inside Freestyle so then when I'm back in the lab that 30 minutes worth of work which does not require a critical listening environment or peripherals could be put in to use within anything that I'm working on.

Snapshot recall via MIDI PG messages is already implemented, since v1.0.
