I assume in his world view the sentence "creating music freely" implies, that for every person who is visiting the forum it's not allowed to used closed source software. A short look into the forum would tell most people that this is not the case (even following the link given by the OP shows that they talk about the idea to at a marketplace subforum), but .jon perspective to the world is a little bit special and restraint.

For the coders out there that is probably a good thing.

But what about us that can tinker a bit with computers, but can't really code.

I am thinking that total freedom will mean that the freedom will be defined by the coders and not the tinkers.
