IMO Master Assistant IS revolutionary and significantly adds value and functionality to the product. In fact otherwise Ozone could be just another master chain / channel strip set of plugins - EQ, saturator, limiter. But automagical mastering help is huge and it actually works!

Plus, as much as Tonal Balance doesn't do anything on its own, it does give great feedback and another way to test your track in-the-box. Again, built-in reference feature simly makes things easier and cleaner no more need to A/B different tracks withing DAW or copy-paste matching EQ.

But yet, the upgrade price is crazy, I don't deny that. Luckily it's first purchase for me

i tried this weekend to mix and master my last song. I am not experienced in mixing and mastering so i got bether results compared to my waves plugins and also compared to previous version from mpb2 ozone7 and neutron1.
I think that cpu consumtion was optimized. I mixed 18 tracks in this song with 18 neutron2 and ozone8.
In the previous versions my ableton got visual hangouts with 18 neutron1 and ozone7.

Did a test-run with O8N2 Standard on a mix and master for an upcoming release. I used the track assistant on Neutron and master assistant on Ozone.

First test sounded ok. It was a bit too harsh in the top end, but overall the mix was well balanced and actually sounded good.

Saved the first test and started another session.

Second test was a complete disaster. The assistants removed a lot of the low end and the mix ended up sounding very squeezed and narrow-banded.

Deleted second test and went back to the first test, did a few edits to the eq's and exiters mainly. Sounded pretty good.

I used the same assistant-settings for the 2 tests, so I'm not sure why there was such a huge difference between them.. guess I need to test further, but my initial conclusion was, that is a tool that will benefit my mixing-sessions. I hate mixing.

Still on Alloy 2 and Ozone 5. Pretty content with these. I like Izotope's products a lot, but their marketing sucks, and it has sucked for quite a while now. I guess my disenchantment began with Iris 2, which should have been a 1.5 free upgrade for existing users.

Alloy 2 (yay), Neutron Elements for some extra fun (and CPU boost) here and there, Ozone 7 Advanced and that's about it for another while - no need to upgrade whatsoever.
Re. Iris they could have included Iris (1) as a freebie for new Iris 2 customers just as well. I'm using I2 on a daily basis, mainly enjoying what it's good and unique at and don't want to repeat what's already been said xyz times but man, what an outstanding plug it could be with a bit of care and dedication on izotope's side.

They've deleted it now, but what a crappy attitude.

You know what? What are they gonna say? We screwed up and overpriced the upgrade? Their only response from a business standpoint is either say nothing or say something like they did, which was just shooting themselves in the foot.

They made their decision and they're going to have to live with it. End of story. Maybe after the dust settles and people forget, they'll have a sale and the sale upgrade price will be more reasonable.

I expect to get the MPB2 to MPS upgrade for $149 instead of $299. I'll post back here when I do, I'll bring receipts if you like

Although I totally agree with the sentiment of this thread Ozone8 Advanced is good enough for me to upgrade to , $126 at our fave retailer. The Neutron pricing is bizarre and although I use V1 I am not sold into the whole new concept, apart from the fact that Neutron in badly optimised and I can't see myself using it on loads of tracks, also I would need N2 to do this.

I wouldn't. I'd expect that upgrade $100 less at some point, possibly $150 (and of course there's the reseller discounts to factor in). iZotope doesn't do this with every single release, but they do with many - I'll wager a lot of folks here jumped on one of the ridiculous deals they run from time to time.

For example, last year Music Production Bundle 2 was a £149 upgrade from any one existing product in the bundle, and contained:

Ozone 7 Advanced
Nectar 2 Production Suite
VocalSynth
Trash 2 Expanded
RX Plugin Pack

That was a particularly crazy deal, but that's the history that explains all the ???? for relatively minor upgrades to Neutron and Ozone (and the removal of insight from the bundle) for $299. Seems highly unlikely to me that they won't at some stage get back to this kind of pricing. My guess is that they felt they missed an opportunity to charge more of a premium for the early adopters, and then reign the masses in a little further down the line - that's what would make sense to me, anyway.

So in other words, what we've just seen with this release is the anomaly.

If so, the question is, how long are we going to have to wait? I'm thinking the earliest is Christmas. Maybe black Friday but given that's so soon after the release, I would think it's unlikely.

But I guess you have more experience with the company than I do. This is the first plugin I ever bought new from them with Iris 2 purchased used and owning nothing else.
