Zebra Legacy (Zebra2)

this is such a ridiculous deal for owners of Z2... thanks a lot Urs!

Before, I only installed presets of Zebra 2 (removing all checkboxes but "presets") before installing ZebraHZ, to have proper folder links between Zebra2.data and ZebraHZ.data (I just wanted to have a single instruments).

HOW TO INSTALL file states:
IMPORTANT: On Windows, dropping .uhe-soundset files into ZebraHZ will only work if you also
have Zebra2 installed. Only then will the presets be correctly installed in the Zebra2 'User'
location, and only then will they appear in ZebraHZ’s 'User' subfolder of 'Zebra2'.

But I found out the former approach worked for me: I only installed Zebra2 presets. Apparently, it's enough to have Zebra2.data folder in place; further soundset import went just fine without the presence of Zebra2 VST.
Which is a nice finding for me :)

Yes, an awesome deal (for everyone). And I'm glad that Zebra Legacy (Zebra2 + ZebraHZ) will continue to receive maintenance fixes for (hopefully) a long time into Zebra 3's lifespan.

Since, Zebra 2's amazing presets will still be relevant in the future, so users will still be able to continue using them within Zebra Legacy, alongside the highly anticipated Zebra 3 once that becomes available.

Question: I don't doubt that Zebra 3 will likewise come with some awesome elite-level presets. But I wonder, would it ever be possible to perhaps import, or batch convert some of our favourite Zebra 2 presets over to Zebra 3 (at some point?). Even if they wouldn't sound 'exactly' the same as in Z2?

If not, no worries! I'm sure Zebra 3 will be awesome in its own right. And I hope some of the same world class synth preset designers are beavering away at a similarly wide-span of extremely 'useable' and eclectic instrument sounds for the new synth, as we speak. Howard Scarr, especially! 🤞

Yes, all you need is the Zebra2.data folder installed.
Then the soundsets can be installed through ZebraHZ.

The drag & drop soundsets doesn't seem to work for me in Studio One, I had to use winrar to open the soundsets and drag & drop everything manually and then copy/paste everything into the Zhz folders too so everything shows up :(

Did you fully extract the soundsets? I tried to just drag and drop from the .zip in File Explorer without extracting and it didn't work. But after I extracted, I was able to drag and drop into Zebra without issue.

Presets installed and visible in Zebra2 and ZebraHZ. Will take a while to check them out!
Thanks Urs!

Is legacy time limited as a deal?

There was really no need to do that.
If you can't drag and drop, it's most likely a permission issue. Our support can help you with that.
And this video demonstrates how the soundset installer routine works, including an alternative way through the "Install Soundset" function found in the u-he logo menu. (and this method was also mentioned in the included install instructions)

Yep tried both ways straight from zip and extracted to folder level but didn't work, I wonder if it's because Studio and all my presets and stuff are on their own dedicated drive rather than C:

I see that ZebraHZ is a different plugin, not just a sound set, therefore if I have it installed and the sound sets are intact do I need to keep the Zebra 2 component file installed or can I slim that down now?

D'n'd worked for me simply after extracting the files. The instruments require plain files
