The best way to use Live 4 is to forget about the rules of MIDI sequencing & audio recording to begin with.

Live 4 was made to be different.

The keyword here is improvise.

Unless you're recording straight up audio, you simply cannot improvise on a fly with Sonar, Cubase, Logic, or DP without having some technical difficulties.

At the same, the best solutions within Acid Pro were at best or worse....limited with just playing with loops & samples.

Sure, you can use soft studio (FLS, Orion, Project5, etc.) to fit the problems. But at that point, being technical outweigh being creative.

But with Live 4, everything is fair and balance. there is a lot of room to improvise, be creative, technical, and productive without technical difficulties.

No offence to Sonar users, but Live is easy workflow.

If you want to drop that piece in the mix, drop it right here and there. If you don't like it, take it away.

Too bad we can't do that in Sonar, Cubase, Logic, or DP. 8)

It's not actually supposed to take the place of a full fledged sequence like Cubase or Sonar, etc, but to be honest with you I can record my vocals inside of Live, all my tracks, the entire band, what audio or midi sounds I want, VERY EASILY without going through a million steps. Live is strictly for the musician/producer/artist that wants to be more creative than technical. For some people this isn't the way they work so for them Live just doesn't make since and they would rather use something else because they feel they're getting more out of their program because it's more complicated to use. Live only has two views session and arrangement, Live excels at what it is supposed to do, it doesn't claim to take the place of any full blown sequencers so this thread is really an unfair comparison, but many Live users find that they end up using their bloated sequencer like Cubase a lot less when using Live.
Well said. I left Cubase for that exact reason, it was too bloated and complicated just to do my simple recording. For some, Cubase or other large sequencers are their cup ot tea. Just not mine.

Also, Live 4 is very stable unlike my experience with Cubase VST/32.

Again, well said Architect.
