From what they're saying, they're going to base their polys all on the UBXa platform. Which'll mean Jupiters, Neptunes etc will be full midi and poly keybeds. Which is quite a quantum leap up for them. TBH it stuns me how much the UBXa does for the price - I don't personally use aftertouch so it's wasted on me, but it's there and it's polyphonic

Aftertouch isn't a game changer, I wouldn't buy a keyboard just because it had aftertouch, but I'm loving using it on my 3rd Wave for pads and now that the Prologue is right above I can use it on that and it's great.kritikon wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:38 am From what they're saying, they're going to base their polys all on the UBXa platform. Very sad news but Dan Clarke, who demonstrated a lot of Behringer products sadly passed away.

Behringer PolyOsc:

Now if only those digital oscillators had wavetable capability like the GForce software version (we can dream).

Unfortunate that they’re departing from the UB-Xa paradigm. I was hoping we’d be getting poly AT on everything from now on.

So it has their keystep copy keyboard (which I don't mind) but also has a screen. Could that screen possibly be for wavetables? Will it be true polyphonic (I hope so). I would just like wavetables and effects, is that too much to ask? I guess so.

Obvs a polyOSC makes me moist, BUT it looks like a very cut down version of an OSCar. First impression is it needs way more knobbage to be a decent emu. Yes a poly version is a great idea but not if it loses so much hands on control. Sequencer could be a great idea on an OSCar but menu diving on a screen...no. Just no. It would likely be a decent emu - Behringers usually are IMO. The screen is likely to make the additive part easier, but I could always leave the OSCar's additive side- rarely used it tbh - still don't on impOSCar. Wavetables can f**k off too. If it was cheap enough I'd get it for nostalgia, but as it stands that doesn't do it for me.
I'm almost decided on getting a PWM Mantis as a modern OSCar replacement. More expensive but it has all the OSCar uniqueness, the dual filters, a lovely drive, true Chris Hugget DNA and a shitload more goodies that give greater value than more polyphony imo. Every tidbit I've seen/heard of Mantis screams the spirit of OSCar to me. I am ready to be parted with my poorly-earned money.
That Boscar should make me very moist but for various reasons it's dried me up. Black'n'green is the new black'n'yellow

Am I the only poor and pathetic soul that is waiting for the Hirotribe?

To date, I just think every Behringer synth with a keyboard is really ugly, except for the Poly-D, which is...ok looking actually. For the rest, it just feels like the real-world equivalent of taking a JPEG of a classic synth and doing a really poor job resizing it so the dimensions are all off and distorted. I wish they spent 25% of the years they spent on the UB-Xa just figuring out how to make their poly synths look a little nicer.
Maybe it's just me.

Maybe that's why the Poly Source looks so good, that's the only one they exploded rather than compacted.

No keys on that one though right? If they did, they'd probably have stretched it vertically in a really bizarre, ugly way.Uncle E wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 4:07 pm Maybe that's why the Poly Source looks so good, that's the only one they exploded rather than compacted.

I thought UBXa was fugly in pics & vids, but was a bit surprised to find that IRL I actually think it looks quite good. An awful lot better than I expected. And Monopoly is an improvement on the original IMO, though obvs a bit smaller. So they're not uniformly wrong-looking, just randomly wrong-looking
I hope if they deliver a Polyvoks that they keep it chunkily Soviet like the original.
