I used to own one of these from '79 to '82. The poly section wasn't particularly inspiring, but the mono synth sounded great, particularly for bass sounds. I think I paid about £600 new, and managed to sell it while it was still working. I've seen them going for silly money secondhand recently.

There's obviously a big world outside of KVR, it seems logical to assume musicians somewhere outside of the KVR eco system are voting with their wallets to such an extent that Cherry Audio are producing instruments that are selling and are appreciated.

I stand by my statement. I don't care if it's free I have no use for such a toy. Only a moron needs 101 ways to make the same preset but round and round we go........ :wheee:
DS-2 GUI is quite crisp on my side, hope you did not post just screenshot from some page. You would have to work pretty hard to replicate many DS-2 "out of the box" sounds in Spire and in many you will just fail. It has its flavour and it is definitely not a toy. Maybe try demo...

It's not crisp at all.
There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

Hats off to Cherry Audio for thinking outside of the box with the synths they replicate, but it would be cool to see them do any of the Ensoniq synths or even Teisco / Kawai synths.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, I'd only just installed it at the time and it hadn't stuck out that it was a bit soft. Now that I have played around with it a bit more, and looked at it properly, I can see that they have definitely dealt with their amateurish, non-anti-aliased look. It is a bit soft but I wouldn't call it "fuzzy", just aggressively anti-aliased. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, obviously, as I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. Maybe you have it much larger on screen than I do?

What does annoy me about the GUI is the white "glow" around the switches. I don't know why they didn't just make them a different colour if they were worried they were disappearing into the background.

Anyway, it sounds OK and there are some nice presets but I don't need it, so it can wait. I'd be more inclined to buy SH-Max first and I haven't bothered doing that yet. I'm still getting a lot of use out of Atomika, maybe when that dries up?

It’s been almost two days since the release, and there’s been no sign of the usual back-and-forth between supporters and haters. Is Cherry’s new product that unremarkable, or is it just plain bad?

GUI is non user-friendly, so i guess people are trying to understand how to use this plugin

I think people are just oversaturated with ways to use Subtractive Synthesis to send a saw wave through a resonating filter and this has been greeted with a resounding yawn.

I don't think to many people are saying it's just plain bad, or that it's unremarkable, I think they are saying who cares without making any statement on the synth itself.

It's also overshadowed by the new TAL JX-8P plugin

The problem is there's no photos of Vangelis ever using one. The Crumar orchestrator on the other hand....
