What you're missing is that Reason isn't all about you.
Source? Most users are using Reason as a package of instruments and a daw, obviously.
I guessed as much...I don't know what to tell you on the velocity curve editor.
no shit...Maybe you just don't use very many virtual instruments
But do you?and don't know what is standard.

No one knows how many people use the rack more than the DAW as until recently you had to buy the DAW to use the rack. Now there is a rack only option there may be numbers as to how many any use the rack exclusively. Given Reason has less than 4% of the DAW market (according to google) I hope more people are using the rack, the instruments and fx ( and the way they an be combined and cv controlled) deserve attention in my opinion. The DAW is also pretty good and super easy to use, it’s certainly a lot better in 14.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I don't really use Reason as a DAW so the rack sub is tempting - wondering if I do that how it would affect my Reason 13 Full non sub version though?

Also if you install the demo what happens to the existing permanent version? Especially if you cancel

R14 installs itself alongside R13, just as the latter does with R12 etc. - most DAWs do it that way...
It wouldn't - you own what you own.aMUSEd wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 10:50 am wondering if I do that how it would affect my Reason 13 Full non sub version though?

Except that on the Mac it will install the Rack.vst over the old one…jens wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 11:55 am R14 installs itself alongside R13, just as the latter does with R12 etc. - most DAWs do it that way...

On Windows you can opt out and disable the Rack.vst 14 from getting installed.
On the Mac you need to save the old Rack.vst and put it back in the VST folder over the v14

Ah, I didn't know that - would renaming the R13 .vst (to Rack_old.vst or whatever) before installing R14 do?liquidsound wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 12:04 pmExcept that on the Mac it will install the Rack.vst over the old one…jens wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 11:55 am R14 installs itself alongside R13, just as the latter does with R12 etc. - most DAWs do it that way...

The new reverb is amazing!
New DAW interface is a bit confusing - the mixer position and layout is very weird

Ok got the hang of it now - best to load the mixer in its own window then I can put it on another screen or just in the bottom corner - it was just weird having it on top of the sequencer
I do like the extra space the sequencer has - will probably upgrade (don't think I'll keep the sub though)
