Ask people like me with Alesis and Marantz products how well it worked outDrGonzo wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 10:54 am I don't know. Maybe they can do good. They treat Akai pretty damn well, and just like NI they are both a combo of hard and software.

I wonder what happens with all of the debt from all of these companies. Is inMusic taking all of that debt on? If so that seems to a giant anchor on the rest of the brands in the portfolio

They are buying NI's assets from the insolvency administrator or whatever the German term is.
The debt will be written off by the insolvency to a large degree or totally.

Just checked the Reaktor User Library, and picked up some promising recent ensembles from both veteran contributors, and some who are new to me. Reaktor and that library asset needs to be front and center, and easier to find...NI having a large catalog need to streamline their website, no easy task, and use industry standard titles to ease navigation. Meaningful forums need to exist and with accurate lables.Gamma-UT wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 10:51 am Not good news for things like Reaktor though, which will probably wind up on life support and Inmusic doesn’t even try to sell them off to a more willing buyer.
In my NI case, I started with the free version of Prism, which inspired me to purchase the full Prism then Razor, and then Reaktor, and I found excellent free ensembles like Steampipe etc. The Reaktor purchase gave me a discount on Komplete, which I bought on a hard drive, an option I'd like to see again for a possible upgrade path. So for some, free things lead to happy purchases down the road. I hope In Music don't mess up the ecosystem. There are great musicians out there in poor economies, who need some free and low-cost means of creating their art!
Hope this move succeeds. Please In Music, listen to customers!!! (and their tunes

Not to get too far off the track here, but I had that before, theres no way to turn off auto-update.sprnva wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 12:44 pm inMusic Software Center just updated on my Big Sur system and won't run because it now needs Monterey as a minimum.
Just re-install the previous version that worked, hi light the icon in the finder and do "get info" and check the locked checkbox.
Now when it goes to update it will ask for a password, you can click cancel and keep using the old version.
Hopefully this helps !
Now... back to your regular scheduled programming.

Hah! I never thought of trying that. I'll give it a shot later. My main OS is Monterey so it's not the end of the world for me, but it's a bit of a high system requirement for a download center.
I have a secondary Big Sur install to compile code, try out plugins and host all the downloaders and portals so I can keep my primary system clean.

I'll save you a click -- His opinion is not to sell your tools based on headlines, he's hopeful for the future of the company as they have been releasing updates, and thinks maybe there will be more integration between products and brands since they are all under the same ownership.

Hey, this is where the NI story ends. There's no next step.
It was quite an interesting evolution of music software.
I still have Komplete 12, but this new offer for 300 Eur is nonsense.
Absynth6? No way!
Time to make some good music with Zebra3 and Serum2! NI is no more cutting edge. But doesn't matter.
IMHO the entire industry will stagnate from now... there's no room for new instruments.

Why should it end? It continues already. Even when there would be no updates anymore, the software and hardware that you already have didn't stop working.
