Wow, just had a chance to play with this today! Fantastic sounding freebie, certainly one of the best freebies I've heard!

I like the size of the GUI. Finally something offering great visual control.
Come on folks, are you running your top notch audio machines along with 15" CRTs?
Still wish the LFOs and delays were tempo-syncable. Oh well yeah, and sustain pedal support would be great too.

Agreed. Anything less than 1280 X 1024 on a 17" drives me insane and is unusable to me, audio production-wise.Sascha Franck wrote:I like the size of the GUI. Finally something offering great visual control.

I refuse to go any higher than 1024x768 and am (and have been) using a 17" viewsonic CRT for the past 4-5 years.
any larger and eyestraincity.. as it is, I already have the fonts and icons in large mode @ 1024..
I like the gui itself.. very basic and to-the-point.. just wish it was a couple hundred pixels smaller, yet the text the same size or larger (which would mean paged gui)
I wouldnt even care though if this thing sounded bad.. but its real good..

Yeah, of course, on a 17" CRT any higher resolution usually is a pain.VitaminD wrote:I refuse to go any higher than 1024x768 and am (and have been) using a 17" viewsonic CRT for the past 4-5 years.
But seriously, one of the biggest improvements of my music setup during the last years has been upgrading to a 17" flatscreen. It's just sooo much better. Meanwhile I even got two of them - the prices have really become reasonable. And once you worked with such a setup, you won't believe how much everything is sped up.

Bah.. Get your eyes tested... Running at 1152*864/85hz with standard fonts on both my work and home 17" CRTs and find it perfectly legible. I did have my work one (a Trinitron) running at 1280*1024/85hz but it made me eyes go funny after a while.VitaminD wrote:I refuse to go any higher than 1024x768 and am (and have been) using a 17" viewsonic CRT for the past 4-5 years.

That GUI is bloody huge though... But many thanks to Arguru for releasing it for free, and maybe some kind soul will produce a great skin for it soon.

I have actually been discussing doing the skin work for this beast and will be posting a new topic shortly to discuss a wishlist for gui elements focusing on usability for maximum user base.
So far the basic idea is a semi-hardware based look, but not 3d angled knobs. aiming to be fully visible in a 1024x768 monitor meaning somethign will have to be condensed into multiple panels. possibly an approach similar to Albino as far as having multiple controls selectable.
